Detailed Project Description
What is the best way to mix science and art?
You will find out.
Have you ever wanted a random artistic topographic texture generator? Me too.
First, I will explain what I mean by a “random artistic topographic texture generator.” Imagine a tool that allows you to generate natural terrain textures like mountains, hills, valleys, and every other environment in a picturesque way.
The problem with not having a random artistic topographic texture generator (RATTG) is that it makes it very difficult to create realistic looking topographies for artistic purposes. Without such a tool, you would have to manually create each individual topographic feature, which would be extremely time-consuming and would likely result in an unrealistic looking landscape.
Why would I even need one of those?
Well, a tool like that could be extremely useful for creating realistic landscapes for computer graphics, video games, music covers, decoration, or just to appreciate the beauty of a psychedelic artificial world.
With just a few clicks, you would be able to create totally custom textures that will add interest and depth to your work. Whether you are working on digital art projects, visual effects or creating a generative fashion design business; there are limitless possibilities.
DIMENSATIONAL
By simply typing in the type of environment you wish to generate, Dimensational will allow you to almost immediately create a beautiful artistic pattern that replicates the beauty of our planet and many others. You don't even need to do a click to visualize an infinite number of beautiful abstract patterns with spectacular resolution.
We have collaborated with NASA and various other space agencies who have provided us with high-resolution satellite topographic images to train our artificial intelligence, a diffusion model capable of replicating natural patterns in a brilliant way.
With Dimensational you can immediately generate amazing textures that will add complexity and dimension to your work.
Okay, but how?
A lot of amazing people agreed to develop an open source pre-trained diffusion model for technology lovers to train at their convenience. We are technology lovers, and that is exactly what we did; we have collected data in both text and image form from different aerospace agencies around the world and, with that, we create an alternative version of “Stable Diffusion” (AI model), which specializes merely in creating topographic patterns.
What is next?
Beauty is generated in the balance between order and chaos, that's what Dimensational replicates; it is not just about abstract patterns that look pretty, it's reality itself that by causality made our world beautiful.
Countless paths and visual stories will be written by the hand of these beautiful patterns from which we cannot escape; a new artistic movement will emerge from technology, with this text we give beginning to generative topism, so that humanity can replicate the beauty of nature with just a click.
Space Agency Data
We used data from the European Space Agency Photo Library for Professionals, NASA Image and Video Library and NASA Earth Observatory to train our own version of Stable Diffusion.
Hackathon Journey
This was an amazing weekend, no matter the result of the Hackaton! We made friends and challenged each other with a very huge challenge. First, we started with a project that was very different from this one. We were running out of ideas to solve the challenge, and then we find this “The Art In Our Worlds” challenge, and we decided to follow it and then hack it.
We would like to thank all Space Organizations that are making this possible. They are such a powerful influence for people that want to learn about Earth and Space.
