Awards & Nominations

Precognians has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Global Nominee

procognitor : savior of next carrington event

High-Level Project Summary

In today's advanced world, an event like Carrington occurs which leads to the destruction of resources of the Earth. We have developed PRECOGNITOR, a software that helps the citizens to alert about the event 2 hours before through the text messaging medium. The Twilio API is used in this. It will automatically shut down the grid power supply from satellites.. It predicts the occurrence of events accurately before 2 hours. It works on the principle of AI technology and ML algorithms. Python has used the LSTM algorithm to predict the occurrence of Carrington events and with the use of the Pygame library, we have developed a game to spread awareness among individuals not to panic in situations.

Detailed Project Description

In today's advanced world, an event like Carrington occurs which leads to the destruction of technology and resources of Earth.

The Carrington event was the most intense geomagnetic storm in recorded history, peaking from 1 to 2 September 1859 during solar cycle 10. It has created strong auroral displays that were reported globally and caused sparking and even fires in multiple telegraph stations. If a solar system as big as the Carrington Event struck today, it could lead to years long power outages.

To protect and shield our earth, we have developed PRECOGNITOR. Precognitor is a software that helps the citizens to alert them them about the event 2 hours before through the text messaging medium. As we know, there are many places like rural areas where there is very less internet connectivity, so it will send text message to all the people to alert them.

It will automatically help to shut down the grid power supply from satellites in a very short time. Our project Precognitor solves the challenge of Carrington event effectively and smoothly. It predicts the occurrence of events accurately before 2 hours to preserve the earth.

It works on the principles of AI technology and Machine learning algorithms. Python has used the LSTM algorithm to predict the occurrence of Carrington events and with the use of the Pygame library, we have developed a game to spread awareness among individuals not to panic in situations.

Its prime feature is spreading awareness about the event instead of developing havoc on individuals.

Using Twilio API, our software helps the citizens to alert about the event 2 hours before through the text messages.

It benefits the universe which is a benefit of every individual of this planet. The goal is to predict the occurrence of events in the future and help people to learn about the Carrington event in a friendlier manner and preserve the earth.

Space Agency Data

We have used a open source dataset provide by NASA and NOAA for solar wind.

We used LSTM algorithm to forecast geomagnetic storm 2-3 hours before it occurs.

Hackathon Journey

Our space journey 2022 was full of enthusiasm and new experiences.

Our team Precognians were super excited during hours of hackathon and had productive round table conferences and developed software.

We learn new technologies while building the software and to calmly handle the bugs that occurred during our journey.

We learnt to innovate ideas and implement them in the real world within a short span of time.

Thought of Awakening the universe about disastrous event inspired our team to build the software and let the whole universe know about the impact of Carrington event and made the people ready to face the situation calmly if occurred.
