High-Level Project Summary
AmbX's main objective is to assess the socio-environmental impacts linked to natural disasters - especially those linked to storms and floods - through social media created mainly to inform users. So we created a Linktree that allows the user's location in real time (through Google Maps) to evaluate the climatic effects of the region in an accessible way to the population. Aiming at the importance of developing studies on environmental impacts in brazilian regions connecting to extreme rainfall events that allow the power to be used as informants for public administration.

Detailed Project Description
“The process of urbanization on a planetary scale reached, at the end of the 20th century and in the beginning of the 21st century, considerably high rates and as this process expands, the concern about the impacts of natural disasters on society also increases. , which are mainly found in areas considered to be more vulnerable (such as the banks of rivers and lakes).”
The present project is the product of debates and research carried out by the AmbX team at Nasa Space Apps in the year 2022.
The project presents the central theme about the reports of extreme floods in Brazilian regions, paying attention to the way in which this phenomenon was understood and the impacts caused over time. Emphasizing the issue of climate change and its influence on the current scenario and the importance of developing structural measures, with the creation of tools for planning to control the impacts generated by natural disasters on society.

introduction
This project aims to institute a reflection on the process of territorial urbanization and the relationship with the occurrences of extreme floods in the Brazilian panorama. Aiming at the contextualization of the theme, a brief analysis was carried out on the way in which floods were understood over time in the regions of Minas Gerais and Fortaleza, thus evaluating the impacts generated in the world scenario, and for a more specific approach to the Brazilian experience.
The same procedures were adopted to argue the issue of urbanization, starting from a first analysis as a global parameter, with a more specific approach to urbanization in Brazil, paying attention to possible influences of such a process on the occurrence of floods.

Brief History of Understanding Floods (based on the regions of Minas Gerais and Fortaleza-Ce)
The frequent occurrence of floods in several Brazilian regions signals the need to reflect on the historical processes of expansion.
According to data from the 2000/IBGE Census, the urban population reached about 80% of the total Brazilian population and, observing the estimates for the coming decades, it is believed that the urbanization process tends to expand even more, and a large contingent population will be inhabiting urban areas.
One of the great examples occurred in 2022 in Jericoacoara, Ceará, causing several inconveniences to residents, traders and tourists in the area.
the village of Jeri, one of the main tourist attractions, was the cause of large floods,
“For this reason, the Jijoca City Hall is working on repairs in the areas most affected by the flood.”- says according to the G1 website.
The problems of flooding have been repeated for several years, according to the Jijoca city hall.
“One of the inconveniences caused by the rain concerns Jericoacoara's electricity. The public lighting of the village is made with underground cables, which were exposed after the rain took a good part of the sand.” - second site G1
Another example to be mentioned is the Parque Genibaú neighborhood located in the west of Fortaleza-ce, a neighborhood located near the banks of the Maranguapinho River, which undergoes this process of vulnerability, taking into account the geographic location and the fragility of the local population. It also aims to identify and analyze extreme rainfall events in the city of Fortaleza-CE.
Many of the urban environmental problems such as floods, deforestation, air and water pollution, among others, unequally expose the city's inhabitants, that is, they do not equally affect the entire urban space. The most severely affected areas are generally those occupied by the less favored social classes, such as on the banks of rivers and lakes.

"Floods, rising of river flow, flooding and runoff in the city of Belo Horizonte are frequent. There are numerous factors that cause floods in urban areas such as the intensity of runoff, topography, geology and soil sealing. Over the last years the city has suffered dramatically with the occurrence of disasters related to floods. Floods are triggered by intense runoff as the city is located in a region of hilly, undulating and with great impermeable areas. Recently two deaths occurred due to flooding caused by sudden runoff. This article aims to employ methods to evaluate the susceptibility to formation of runoff in urban area”
Floods due to urbanization are processes influenced by various human activities carried out in urban areas. They occur in small basins, with the exception of large cities. This type of flood happens as the population.
The main impacts on the population are:
material and human losses
interruption of economic activity in flooded areas
contamination by waterborne diseases such as leptospirosis, cholera, among others
water contamination by the flooding of toxic material deposits, treatment plants, among others.
The importance of combating extreme floods and floods.
The importance of fighting extreme floods in urban areas allows the maintenance of areas of social use, such as free areas in the center of cities, reforestation, and certain types of recreational use. In a sustainable way to maintain the less favored regions, with an incentive to prevent these problems, in order to change the current scenario in Brazil. Finally, bringing a more ecological and sustainable thinking to the population.
project solution
The AmbX team - through social media - aims to mitigate the impacts of floods in Brazilian regions. We also use Linktree to track and map the location with the support of Google Maps in a way accessible to the population. When analyzing the constant degradations in the regions we are talking about, we concluded that promoting posts on social networks (with blogs and IG creations on Instagram) to inform, request the completion of the project and alert city halls to create a sustainable future

Space Agency Data
NASA and the city of Rio de Janeiro are working together to support innovative efforts to better understand, anticipate and control hazards, including sea level rise, rainfall and landslides, in and around the city. This collaboration leverages the unique attributes of NASA satellite data and Rio de Janeiro's Resource Management and Monitoring to improve insight into how Rio and greater Rio may be affected by flood and landslide risks as well as climate change.

Hackathon Journey
This was an enriching experience! I had the opportunity to broaden horizons and absorb important content in the current decade, bringing social evolution with ecological impact to the planet.
The inspiration for the AmbX project was research based on the experiences of each member and their respective region, in this way, we evaluated the impacts resulting from the floods, in short, our approach was in search of improvements in urban parameters, where they are devastated by high levels of floods and landslides. We based ourselves on research from NASA satellites, in Brazilian locations to have a base, we related the two regions used in the research (Fortaleza-CE and Minas Gerais) and we arrived at the objective of the project.
The team mobilized to organize itself according to the demand of each member, we thank each mentoring held at Espace Apps and each member.
