High-Level Project Summary
The problems we are currently experiencing regarding climate change have triggered andprovoked important changes both in nature and in the living conditions of the population. Theastro-student team has decided to act and design a proposal. Our challenge is tocommunicate and propose a solution to develop a dignified, fit and sustainable societythrough the dissemination of social networks. It is important to act immediately, since it couldcause a hecatomb caused by the excessive use of natural resources provided by the planetif we do not think again and consider as a priority the need to disseminate information ofaction against the Climate.

Detailed Project Description
Development and Methodology
The correlation between peace and the environment is undeniable. The United Nations mentions that ¨There can be no lasting peace if the natural resources that sustain livelihoods and ecosystems are destroyed¨. The effects of climate change are becoming more and more evident both in the world and in our community (the state of Jalisco, Mexico). Some examples of this problem are air pollution caused by fires in the Bosque de la Primavera, an essential environmental regulator for our community since it provides oxygen and water to the city; heat waves becoming more frequent and stronger, as it was in 1999 in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, where a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees was recorded, causing people to die; also the burning of bricks in Tonalá, Jalisco, in order to build Jalisco homes has been responsible for air pollution. But… How is it affecting the Peace? These problems are altering the living conditions of the population; an example of them is poverty, the increase in unemployment, and migration, among many others. The proper development of human life requires certain basic environmental conditions, as well as the existence of resources, an appropriate climate, territorial security, and, of course, social peace. Information is the most important tool for change since it allows us to get closer and share with the general population the importance of protecting our planet. It is a fact that our planet is going through a time of decline, and it has been shown that this is the work of human beings. To stop this, the first thing we have to do is to determine the justifications for this very well-needed transformation and spread them in order to save our future, with small actions causing big changes, and seeking to have a great impact. We want to spread information quickly, summarized, and clearly so that many people can see it and what better place to accomplish this than social networks. By creating an environmental awareness campaign through social media about how climate change directly affects us and how our peace is also affected, we will spread the data massively, hoping to obtain very favorable results that will result in a change of mentality and action of a large number of people. Scientists have proven that if we continue with this rate of consumption of natural resources and environmental pollution, we will not leave a healthy world for our future generations, so we will collect the information provided by space agencies to observe and analyze the climate changes that our planet has suffered from the year 2000 to date because we can wait no more without barging into this massive problem we are all into, which is taking care of our mutual home.
The IPCC’s Sixth Assessment report, published in 2021, found that human emissions of heat-trapping gases have already warmed the climate by nearly 2 degrees Fahrenheit, being the northern part of the world the most affected.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important heat-trapping gas, or greenhouse gas, that comes from the extraction and burning of fossil fuels. This shows how accelerated it’s the growth of its presence in the atmosphere.
In 2022 our air had 435 ppm of carbon dioxide. These measurements are from the mid-troposphere, the layer of Earth's atmosphere that is 8 to 12 kilometers (about 5 to 7 miles) above the ground.
Viability and sustainability of the project
Due to the fact that the nature of our project is non-profit, and the cost of operation is quite low, the few resources that may be necessary to keep the accounts of the social networks really active would be potentially solved through voluntary contributions. In the future we would seek to bring content to streaming platforms such as YouTube, where profits can be generated through views and the money obtained will be reinvested in its entirety for the maintenance of this bigger and better step of our project, since in the first instance our potential public would be all the people who have access to some social network, which in the case of Mexico is estimated that this group of people is 78.3% of the population, but growing to streaming the project would be more attractive, to the point of achieving a transnational impact.

We aimed for the challenge “How does climate change affect you?”
By creating an environmental awareness campaign through social media about how climate change directly affects us and how our peace is also affected, we will spread the data collected by space agencies about climate change massively, hoping to obtain very favorable results that will result in a change of mentality and action of a large number of people.
6. ¿Cómo fue su experiencia en Space Apps? ¿Qué aprendieron?
At the beginning of Space Apps we were very excited, we did not know what challenges were waiting for us, but as time progressed we realized that it was going to be a great challenge since we had little time to complete the project selected beforehand, but in spite of everything we had fun, we forged stronger bonds with our friends and we learned a lot of new things thanks to the data provided by the space agencies.
7. ¿Qué fue lo más retador de estas 48 hrs de trabajo? ¿cómo lo solucionaron?
What was the most challenging part of these 48 hours of work? How did you solve it?
The most challenging thing we experienced as a team in these 48 hours was dealing with stress, staying up late to finish the job without running out of time, but thanks to our good organization, communication and dedication of all team members we were able to finish the job on time.
8. ¿Alguien a quien quieran agradecer? ¡Menciónenlo!
We would like to thank Escuela Preparatoria No.15, the University of Guadalajara and especially our teacher and tutor María Esther Rodríguez Ramírez for supporting us in this wonderful project. We also thank NASA Space Apps for giving us the opportunity to participate and learn a little more about the problems we face every day.
