Accelerate carbon reduction and enhance industrial competitiveness

High-Level Project Summary

Addressing a wide range of climate change issues cannot be achieved without public participation. This revision of the law strengthens information disclosure and expands the mechanism of citizen participation, requiring governments at all levels to formulate various plans and plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate change. Climate change adaptation policies and measures in this document.

Detailed Project Description

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change passed the Paris Agreement in 2015, and countries agreed to balance anthropogenic emissions and removals of greenhouse gases in the second half of the century, and In response to the special report released by the IPCC in 2018, policy plans for net zero greenhouse gas emissions have been put forward one after another.

Compared with neighboring countries in Asia, how does my country's greenhouse gas emissions perform?

According to statistics from the International Energy Administration, my country's emissions have been flat in the past 14 years. Based on 2005,

The average annual growth rate of carbon dioxide emissions from energy combustion in my country is 0.1%, which is better than the 1.8% in South Korea and Singapore.

What are the greenhouse gas emissions of each country?

The following is based on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), statistics the latest greenhouse gas emissions of countries (176 countries in total), and the calculation is divided into those that include and do not include "land use, land use change, forestry (Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry, LULUCF)”, click the map below to switch to view the emission values of each country.

How much greenhouse gas does my country emit? Which sector emits the most?

my country's net greenhouse gas emissions in 2019 were about 265.621 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e), of which the manufacturing sector accounted for the highest proportion of emissions, accounting for about 56% of the total emissions.

Has my country set a reduction target?

my country has set a long-term reduction target in the Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Law: in 2050, the greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced to less than 50% of the 2005 greenhouse gas emissions; the revised draft of the "Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Law" in October 2021 proposes to amend the target. For: net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2050.

In order to pragmatically achieve the long-term goal, another five-year GHG emission target has been set:

The first phase (2016-2020) targets a 2% reduction in 2020 (compared to 2005)

The second phase (2021-2025) targets a 10% reduction in 2025

The third phase (2026-2030) targets a 20% reduction in 2030
