Enlightened Earth

High-Level Project Summary

In today’s modern world, all the knowledge we need is one click away; but our brains prefer to stay relaxed. For that, we chose to approach education differently and focus on the connection we can build with the audience that we are serving and provoke their emotions to make our message stick with them. Our approach has been storytelling and focusing on the human nature aspect. In the end, humans are the door, and we must find the best way to approach this door. Storytelling combined with adapted voice speed, tone, visuals, and words chosen can be the key that will open that door and influence people to become aware and have enlightened earth.

Detailed Project Description

We choose our project name Enlightened Earth because we want to Enlighten our earth with knowledge and spread awareness. We see nowadays people can learn anything on the internet and information is accessible to anyone. Although we have that amount of data to consume, we have little time and realize it.

Most people run away from data because it's too hard to consume or there is a lot to consume to understand the main point or the objective behind the data provided. However, our brains just prefer to stay on the known and in comfort. For that, people choose to not consume data but instead go for entertainment or watch movies and spend days finishing series.

Moving closely scientific data is hard to absorb for a large population but it's important to spread awareness about the scientific things that are happening around us and put the light on how those things can affect us if we don’t become aware of the fact those things exist.

If you put in mind to become aware, do some research, and put some effort and time you can become aware.

However, people who are afraid of normal data will be horrified by the scientific data. Therefore, it's important to spread such awareness in a simple way.

The human brain prefers to stay comfortable, and a big portion of people like interactive learning methods.

For that, we approach education differently. We make sure that our used approach will adapt to our audience.

The empathic skills we utilize in creating our educational content are highly valuable and to be focused on. We use the key: storytelling, utilizing the human aspect and how people perceive things and the way our emotions work.

We targeted different aspects to reach out to different mentalities of our audience.

For the background music, we chose music that triggers emotions. We aimed to take our audience on an emotional roller coaster like the strategies used in Hollywood movies.

For the Visuals, we made sure to choose our visuals depending on what we want the audience to imagine and recall from his/her memories. Most of today’s world is visuals focused. Researchers have estimated that 75% of the world’s population are lookers and visuals preferring.

We even chose our words carefully and made sure the words we use will affect our audience.

To add, we worked on the voice tone used in the video, the body language, and the voice speed.

We made sure our message appealed to all types of personalities emotional, analytical, and social… We made sure that people will feel connected to a bigger cause as well.

Because People, since the begging of the earth, always searched for belonging, they want to feel that they belong to something and be relatable to it. Thus, we used this deep nature in humans to make them more focused on us and make our message memorable.

Moreover, human beings are beings of emotions. So, we focused on provoking that thing because we know how much valuable human emotions so we make sure to leverage them to our advantage and open this gap to make sure that we made our message stick in the minds of our audience.

In conclusion, we know that humans are the most important door to open and we ensure to approach that door the best way. The emotional way and storytelling are the key to open people’s belonging feeling, which will make it stick with them forever.

Space Agency Data

Information is important and trusted references are what make it accurate. To get specific information that will serve one of our goals providing scientifically correct information about climate change, we relied on three main sources of information:

Canadian Space Agency CSA

Nasa’s Open Data

Other Trusted Websites

To start with, Canadian Space Agency is our main source to understand climate change. Before we start with specific information about the current situation in Lebanon and Chouf and the story we managed to deliver, we had to provide the reader with some background information on what climate change is. We have got the definition of climate change from CSA and delivered it in a creative manner.

Another source of data is NASA’s climate website, one of Nasa’s open data. After our audience was introduced to the concept of climate change, it is time to give some specific numbers to make the concept clear as much as possible. In addition, providing specific numbers allows the audience to understand the extent of the problem. Not only that, but also gave us information about climate change in addition to those from CSA.

Adding to NASA’s Knowledge, we used some local and global sources to deliver our objective. We made use of TV stations websites and referred to the news related to wildfires in Lebanon and Chouf. Moreover, we get some specific data numbers from local websites interested in wildfires resulting from climate change.

And to not miss, we’ve referred to the database that is offered to one of our team members by his university AUB ,and reached some important websites and search engines, such as UN and ScienceDirect.

Hackathon Journey

Space Apps Hackathon is an amazing experience filled with prosperity in thinking and in pushing ourselves to the limits.

We chose the challenge of climate change's effect on us because of our passion for influencing humanity to the best and spreading awareness that lasts. ‘How Climate Change Affects You’ has been the most suitable challenge to choose and work on.

In Lebanon, many climate change effects that we had personal experiences with them.

Our approach was different and was solely based on the humans we are serving through connecting with them deeply and emotionally. That connection that we build will open our audience's consciousness to remember our message well and make it stick with them.

At the begging of our project, we had some setbacks in choosing the specific problem, we are focusing on; but, then, we gathered the experiences of our team and people we know to decide on the problem that we can solve through a story, which can connect. Not only that, but what is better than a connecting story that is embedded from a personal experience.

In the end, we would like to thank all the space apps team members, all the space agencies, and anyone who has been involved in organizing this amazing event.
