High-Level Project Summary

For a moment, you may think that climate change is an obstacle in our way, but it is only the nature of our planet, which we live on. Alexandria city , one of the largest cities in Egypt, is facing the challenge of rising Mediterranean water levels due to the increase in global warming temperature, which in turn leads to the melting of ice, What exactly we do , is a successful solution to global warming by calculating the percentage of the carbon footprint, Our project also works to increase the green space by creating a device that monitors the places where groundwater is available, do not forget that only one tree is able to absorb 1 ton of carbon dioxide.

What exactly our project do, is a successful solution to global warming?


The global warming was in the twentieth place on the list of issues of high concern, and this is enough that it is worthwhile to think about it, all of people know that global warming is a rise in temperature in the lower layer of the Earth's atmosphere, caused by the emission of large quantities of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen oxide and many other gases, and this is due to the industrial and commercial activity of humans, which includes vehicle exhaust and fossil fuels. There is no doubt that the main source of heat for the planet is the sun, and it is natural that the planet absorbs part of the sun's heat and the remaining is reflected and bounced back into space, on its way to space, it passes through the atmosphere, which naturally contains greenhouse gases (Co2, methane). These greenhouse gases absorb heat and do not allow the heat returned from the surface of the planet to go out to outer space and reflect this heat again inside the planet, which in turn causes an increase in temperature and ends with the melting of the ice and the rise in the water level, which causes the major catastrophe we are living in now. Our project works on calculating the percentage of the carbon footprint consumed in transportation (public - aviation) and homes by adapting artificial intelligence technology and the Internet of things in The user’s knowledge of how to rationalize the consumption of carbon in his daily life, and this is because the percentage of carbon is less, so we can solve one of the problems of climate change, which is the phenomenon of global warming and keep pace with the environmental part of the sustainable development goals. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is estimated at about 280 million units, and this number has not changed since about 800,000 years ago on the planet. Since the industrial revolution, the quantity has increased to more than 400 million units!

Carbon dioxide emissions cannot be completely prevented, but we can reduce it. There are other solutions that we have reached through continuous research, and we call for doing them so that peace prevails.

1- We plant many plants such as trees, as the plant absorbs carbon dioxide during the photosynthesis process, and this in turn will reduce global warming, knowing that one tree is able to absorb a ton of carbon dioxide!

2- We use new and renewable energy such as wind and solar energy, and they can contribute to providing clean energy in the world; Whether alternative energy or green hydrogen and reduce the use of stations that depend on fossil energy of all kinds.

3- Provide a device with high efficiency and affordable price aimed at monitoring the amount of carbon dioxide gas present in the air using (Arduino Uno micro-controller - Buzzer - red led - Bread Board - 2 batteries 3.7 volt with holder and charger - MQ-9 Carbon Monoxide, Combustible Gas Sensor Module - LCD 16*2 with I2C Module - Jumper Cables in future research our project will use printed circuit board or PCB for more accuracy instead of using the wires - Arduino c programming language (Arduino IDE Software), Application by flutter (Dart programming language).

4- Supply the agricultural area (green area) to achieve self-sufficiency. By creating a device that monitors areas with groundwater.

Our project works on adapting the techniques of the Space Agency in the exploration of places where groundwater is available by satellite & remote sensing, which helps the project to determine the available places accurately, in addition to space technologies in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics to determine the amount of carbon dioxide consumed during daily life in general.

Hackathon Journey


Our experience in the NASA Space Apps was full of sportsmanship and honorable competition, in which we learned the meaning of patience to the extreme, perseverance and not giving up in the most difficult circumstances. In order to escape from a catastrophic phenomenon if we leave it, we will lose what we have, and this has always reminded us that we must work and not despair and leave a mark for us testifying to our efforts, and because we love the American Space Agency and all its competitions, we had to choose a challenge from its challenges.

The project will be studied in terms of entrepreneurship to work on providing the project in the labor market and study the competitors in the labor market and then will make contracts with bodies in the field of environment and climate change and ministries such as the Ministry of Environment to provide in each home and each factory a device aimed at calculating the amount consumed of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases in general in daily life (uses printed circuit board or PCB for more accuracy instead of using the wires). And on the basis of this amount if it rises above a limit a fine will be paid. In addition, every registered person will be provided on the project website who can discuss about climate change and the environment. In addition to education, pioneers and young people are provided with educational books to study climate change and the environment extensively, in addition to adding them to the educational curricula in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Education and this make the project creative and keep pace with Egypt's vision 2030 and sustainable development goals (SDGs).
