Nasa Lands - Sad Lands

High-Level Project Summary

We created a blog called "NASA Lands" to raise awareness about water shortage in Lebanon and we published our first article that was represented in our video that projects the most dangerous impacts of the drought. Very happy to have prototyped our application that serves as a community for climate science knowledge seekers. It actually solves the challenge because we provided reliable information unlike citations used in social media. Today, drought must be taken quite seriously as its impact are endless and very broad: ranging from economic to social to environmental irreversible impacts. We demonstrated that climate change must be tackled though studies, tree ring analysis, etc.

Detailed Project Description

We aim to warn the Lebanese society about the worst situations climate change could lead to in Lebanon. first, we research reliable information about water shortage in the Mediterranean areas. We give an educational approach to the information, with only hopes that it influences someone to trust our sources and even explore their interest! We not only have a video but also an enthusiastic team who codes, research, learn and advocate for climate justice! An app for climate science learners. A blof for them. A youtube channel for them. We want to defeat droughts.

Space Agency Data

Nasa - Worst drought in 900 years is a shocking article that deserve more recognition than we can ever give. We really are hungry for more knowledge than we could learn in two days - Mad Respect for the NASA team. We quickly summarized the information we found and selected the most unpopular information.

Hackathon Journey

One week ago we gathered team members knowing that we are doing the challenge remotely. To prepare we got to know our skills, interests, and challenge preferences. We were inspired by our mutual national issues: drought. Every team member experienced drought in severe ways. A major plus for Elina was her trip to Zahle - a flat and dry land in Lebanon. So, without further ado we started hacking: Elina summarized NASA's article, Myra summarized the country profile of Lebanon, Dorcas got down to coding our beautiful blog, Gloria kept the group engaged all the time, and finally Elina designed the video and published it online. Everything was added to our google drive folder.
