Detailed Project Description
Everyone can help limit climate change. We can make a difference through the way we get around, the type of energy source we use and the food we eat. Start with these ten actions to help tackle the climate crisis.
Save energy at home
Much of the electricity and heating is produced through coal, oil and gas. Use less energy by lowering heating and air conditioning, switch to LED light bulbs and energy-efficient electrical appliances, wash clothes in cold water, and hang clothes on the line instead of using a dryer.
Walk, bike or public transport
All over the world roads are congested with vehicles, most of which run on diesel or gasoline. Walking or cycling instead of driving reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, in addition to contributing to your health and well-being. For longer distances, consider public transport or carpooling whenever possible.
eat more vegetables
Eating more vegetables, legumes, fruits, whole grains, seeds and nuts and less meat and dairy products can significantly decrease your environmental impact. The production of plant-derived foods generally emits less greenhouse gases and requires less energy, land and water.
Consider your transport
Planes burn a lot of fossil fuels, emitting significant greenhouse gases. So by flying less, you quickly reduce your impact on the environment. When you can, go on virtual dates, take the train, and avoid long-distance travel.
Throw out less food
When you throw away food, you are also wasting resources and energy used in growing, producing, packaging and transporting the food. And when food rots in landfills, it produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. So, use what you buy and compost the leftovers.
Reduce, reuse, separate and recycle
Electronics, clothing and other items we buy cause carbon emissions at every point in production, from extracting the raw material to manufacturing and transporting the goods to market. To protect the climate, buy less stuff, buy second hand, fix what you can and recycle.
Change your home's power source
Ask the supplier if the energy that comes to your home comes from oil, coal or gas. If possible, see if you can switch to renewable sources like wind or solar. Or install solar panels on the roof to generate power for your home.
Switch to an electric car
If you are planning to buy a car, consider electric ones, there are more cheap models coming to market. Even though they run on electricity produced with fossil fuels, electric cars help reduce air pollution and emit fewer greenhouse gases than gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles.
Choose environmentally friendly products
Everything we buy affects the planet. You have the power to choose which product or service you support. To reduce your environmental impact, shop at local grocery stores and seasonal foods, and choose products that come from companies that use resources responsibly and are committed to reducing gas emissions and waste.
speak up
Speak up and gather others for joint action. This is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to make a difference. Talk to neighbors, colleagues, friends and family. Let business owners know you support bold changes. Appeal to local and world leaders to act now.

Hackathon Journey
It was very inspiring and a moment of reflection, because with the rush of everyday life, we didn't stop to observe how much nature has suffered and is dying.
