High-Level Project Summary
We address the impact of climate change on farmers in northern Nigeria. The biggest climate change factor faced is variable rainfall whereby regions are plagued by extreme downpours or periods of no rain edging towards drought. We created a mobile app interface, that will provide farmers an almost accurate climatic prediction for the next production season, the app will be able to foresee a flood or drought situation before it occurs. This would give government and local farmers enough time to put preventive measures in place. Farmers will also get recommendations on crop varieties that have been genetically modified to withstand these climatic conditions and where to get these seeds.

Detailed Project Description
Our video centers around the impact of climate change on our farmers. It shows the current situation and issues faced by farmers in the northern Nigeria due to drought and flooding. Furthermore, we are compiling videos from different parts of the Northern Nigeria which shows the consequences of these changes and the challenges our farmers are facing. This video aims at creating awareness about the climate change effects with respect to the agricultural sector in northern Nigeria.
The Green Cycle mobile application is a farmer friendly software application we hope we can be able to provide these farmers with an almost accurate climatic prediction for the next three months so that they can be able to take necessary steps in preparing for flood and drought. In the app they will have access to Nasa……, genetically modified seeds that can withstand the changes and also provide them with information on Government agencies and private organizations where they can have access to the necessary aid they will need.
For this project we made use of a video camera, laptop, figma, and google workspace.

Hackathon Journey
Our journey started on the 29th of September, 2022. We met physically for the first time on the 1st of October, 2022. We started by introducing each other and we began to brainstorm on our topic. in the middle of this, there were disagreements and later compromises in order for us to achieve our aims and objectives. On the second day of the hackathon, we began to shoot videos for our project, made the slides for our demo presentation. Overall, it has been a challenging journey full of emotions but we were able to give it our best shot, scaled through the hurdles and we have hopes emerging as the winners.
We wish to thank Mr. Abdulkadir Nuhu Gumel who helped us to resolve the misunderstanding between ourselves and made sure we stayed united.
