Zacamiztin

High-Level Project Summary

Zacamiztin is a brief video which purpose is to make people aware about the threat of climate change in Mexico and the world, communicating the problem from first-hand experience, demonstrating how climate change transforms the environment. According to statistics and scientific information provided by NASA and INECC, Zacamiztin will show the current situation of climate change, its impact in society and how everyday actions could make a change in the future. In addition, this project takes advantage of social media to have a higher range of people.

Detailed Project Description

The video enfatice the principal climate change caused by human actions, showing a quotidian reality based on infalible data and scientifics. This video looks to awaken society to generate empathy with the troubles that affect the climate which cause a climate imbalance in the environment.

Visualize aspects economic and social which have been affected us over the years for climate change that every day become in the main trouble that should worried about what happen to our planet.

Our principal objective is not just to notice what happens in the world, but also to see what actions should be taken so we don't arrive at the point of no return. Like humanity we should give importance and priority if we want to show to the future generations what beautiful our planet is.

This video was developed with technologies proportionate NASA in the resources of space app challenge, tools of composition digital blender which use procesal technique nodo, cameras with resolution 4K to preserve image quality, laptops and internet.

Space Agency Data

The Mexican Space Agency provides us with extremely valuable open government data regarding the different government sectors such as agriculture, geography, climate problems, Mexico's infrastructure, among others. Taking into account the main reason for the project, which is to present a true and factual version of the current situation of climate change and how it affects us, the database "Vulnerabilidades definidas en el Atlas de Vulnerabilidad al Cambio Climático (ANVCC)”, which allowed us to visualize the information about the floods that is directly bound with the livestock sector and linking them as a consequence of Climate Change, coinciding with the first-hand experiences of the team. The database "Vulnerabilidad de la producción ganadera por inundaciones, enfoque estatal", contained in the data bank, provided us with information regarding how vulnerable the livestock industry is to a flood caused by temperature intervals and decreased rainfall, segmenting the impact by states and cities applying different climate change models.

Hackathon Journey

Through this experience, the team successfully defeated the challenges and problems that occur, providing a feasible and optimal solution using technologies and tools provided by NASA, taking advantage of the knowledge and skills of the members. Our main motivation to take action against climate change through this project was to inspire a change in a large number of people, helping them to understand what climate change is, how it affects us and to show through our personal experience and environment where we can start to improve as a community. The whole experience was of great importance for our professional and personal development, because we had the opportunity to use different resources to plan and thrive on this project.
