SPACE ADAPTATION SUIT

High-Level Project Summary

^We have developed a space suit dedicated on mitigating the affects of muscular dystrophia. We hope to aid mankind in space exploration whrough making work adapt to human instead of making human adapt to work as ergonomics demand.

Detailed Project Description

1.)Space is the expanse thought to be the end that exists beyond the earth and between the celestial bodies. Space is not entirely empty as one might think, it is made up of low-density particles (hydrogen, helium, etc.), as well as electromagnetic radiation, magnetic fields, etc. It is the hard vacuum area that contains things.

2) Gravity In Einstein's theory of relativity, gravity is formed by the bending of space-time. Newton's law of universal gravitation: each point mass attracts the other point mass by a force in the direction of a line connecting the two. This force is directly proportional to the product of these two masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

3) NASA and some countries various biological, physiological, chemistry, etc. The non-gravity environment that astronauts are exposed to, which is sent to the international space station for the purpose of testing the systems developed for various space missions and to conduct research in different areas, causing various problems.

Some of those:

1) The rapid change between the gravity astronauts are accustomed to on Earth and the microgravity they are exposed to in space, can cause astronauts to lose bone density by 1% per month, which can lead to osteoporosis-related fractures and long-term health problems .

2) Due to human physiology, the heart is in a position, and the heart has adapted to gravity while pumping blood in this position, but the blood does not go to the tissues and cells in sufficient quantity because the human blood circulation in space is not as regular as it is on Earth. This causes some problems. It causes majormuscular dystrophy. Our aim in this project is to try to minimize the problem of astronauts' muscle and bone resorption, with some methods that help regulate blood circulation.

To achieve our goal in this project, we will use the stimulation (EMS) technique that has been used in physical therapy since the 1950s.

Stimulation is a method used in various muscle treatments today. The electrical muscle stimulation system is applied with the training system. Technically, it is the interaction arising from the transmission of small or medium (-70 to +40mV) electrical currents to the muscles at certain intervals. The muscles that cannot be activated in physical training can be activated by the electric currents given.

In our project, we integrated this stimulation technique into an outfit. Our clothing will work the muscles with the stimulation (EMS) technique and will help meet the need for daily movement (work the muscles with artificial electrical signals). With artificial currents, the muscles start to work by feeling as if they are forced even when they are not in fact, forced for real (placebo effect). At the same time, with the electric current given, it is aimed to get more blood to the tissues and cells where the blood cannot reachas efficiently. This will accelerate the blood circulation and help the heart. Thus, we also provide solutions to the swellings that occur in the body due to the inadequacy of gravity, high blood pressure, and problems in vision and organs. We will place the stimulation device under our clothing. Pets will be placed on important muscle groups and general control will be from the panel.

Muscles are the mainstay of the body in general. When they work properly, blood circulates more, metabolism accelerates, the heart does not fall out of shape by working regularly.

In addition, we aimed to contribute to this system, which we created by putting channels made of non-Newtonian fluids into the suit we designed, by applying pressure to the muscles, albeit small, by transmitting the pressure created by the daily movements of the astronauts equally to the other parts of the body through these channels.

In this way, we think that the person will have less difficulty after returning from space. The shortening of the stature will be minimized as the spine will be less compressed, and the average (15-20%) of the affects caused by muscular dystrophia lost by any astronaut in space adventure will decrease. If implemented, it can contribute to the development of the space industry, as we will adapt more easily in space. People may become able to travel longer. We think that the fact that world giants such as NASA and SpaceX want to establish colonies on the Moon and Mars supports our project.
