High-Level Project Summary
Parker's Way is a game app that will teach students ages 6 to 18 about the mission of the Parker Solar Probe. This game will show non-specialists how the Parker Solar Probe explores the Sun and interprets the data. Parker encounters many asteroids on his way to the closest point to the Sun, perihelion. Users will learn what data this solar spacecraft collects as it explores Parker's long-distance travels. This is important because users can learn about Parker's mission and interpret his data in very creative ways while developing deft maneuvering skills.

Detailed Project Description
Parker’s Way! What exactly does it do? How does it work?
First, "Parker's Way" introduces the user to the Parker Solar Probe mission and the game's interface. This mission lasts about three years in game time, but in real life, it lasts about 7 years. The goal of the game is to reach perihelion, the closest point to the Sun, by avoiding asteroids. The game also explains what data Parker can collect as he travels through space. Avoiding obstacles in his path, Parker must collect coins, which are interpreted into data such as radiation, waves, particles, speed and sound of the solar wind. The background sound of the game is the actual sun vibration sound, which is taken from NASA | Sun Sonification (raw audio).
Explanation of the icons in the game:
- This icon represents particles of the Sun that the Probe collects as data.

- This icon represents electromagnetic waves of the Sun that the Probe collects as data.

- This icon represents radiation of the Sun that the Probe collects as data.

- This icon represents the velocity of the solar wind that the Probe collects as data.

- This icon represents the vibration of the Sun that the Probe collects as data.

What benefits does it have?
The advantage of our app is that it can explain complex terminology to students of all ages in a very simple way, without requiring them to have prior experience in the field. It stimulates their curiosity in space science even from an early age.
What do you hope to achieve?
We hope that our game generates impact, that children and students find it entertaining and that they take advantage of the information they can learn from the game.
What tools, coding languages, hardware, or software did you use to develop your project?
We developed a prototype using BuildBox, designed icons on SketchBook. Images were taken from https://catherineasquithgallery.com/.
Space Agency Data
We used all the data from Parker Solar Probe Mission Blog (https://blogs.nasa.gov/parkersolarprobe) and the Heliophysics overview (https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sunearth/overview/index.html) to learn about the importance of studying sun and to expose youth to the introduction to this science as well.
Hackathon Journey
Our experience in the Space Apps Challenge was absolutely amazing and inspiring. We conducted deep research about heliophysics and many spacecraft that explore the Sun. We learned a lot about Parker Solar Probe, its mission and functions, differences between perihelion and aphelion. We inspired each other every completed milestone and it stimulated an optimistic mood throughout the work process. Moreover, we never worked alone because we helped each other with any issues.
