KlimaKord

High-Level Project Summary

We have created an interactive map with which you can visualize how the sea level rises as the years go by and how the pollution emitted increases or decreases. The objective of this application is to serve as a tool to raise awareness about climate change, pollution and the welfare of the planet. This application is aimed at people who are in organizations that seek to protect the ecosystem and develop work as speakers in educational centers.

Detailed Project Description

klimakord

In our application, we show a topographic map in which we can observe how the sea level rises as the years go by and the pollution emitted increases or decreases. The parameters that we can modify to observe the changes of the sea level rise are: Pollution from vehicles, from industries, from agricultural performance and from houses, stores and institutions. The application gives the possibility to see the results by completely eliminating each of the pollutants and also to see what would happen if we increase the pollution already emitted. Within the map we have added a pop up in which we offer more information, in this we add interesting data on climate change provided by NASA.

Space Agency Data

Since we could not find specific APIs for what we wanted to do, we have created our own api with the data that we have obtained from different official pages of NASA, among these pages are the following:

Also some data has been extracted from external APIs such as the following:

Hackathon Journey

This event has been the first for the whole group, I particularly believe that there was no difficulty in adapting in order to be more efficient when working.

As for what we learned, (teamwork, caching, more agility with Bootstrap management).

the idea of the project was taken into account, calculating the time we had to work and the knowledge we could share.

as for the approach, the group was divided in two groups of 3, where some of them were in charge of the back-end and the rest of them of the front-end.

we had no setbacks, we knew how to segment the work in an efficient way.

we would like to thank:

-the organization for making such an important event like this possible.

-The Salesianos de Zaragoza educational center for providing us with the necessary knowledge that made it possible for us to face this challenge, a challenge that gratifies us both personally and professionally.
