HeatWave

High-Level Project Summary

Easily accessible to anyone and everyone and through an interactive 3D globe, our developed website allows users to visualize the globe's changing state within different countries on metrics such as diminishing air quality, rising temperature levels, and threatening natural disasters. Since the data in its current state is complex by its nature and all scattered, HeatWave synthesizes such information and simplifies them for people of all backgrounds, opening their eyes and raising awareness on how badly current human behavior would change the trajectory of the planet we live on, Earth.

Hackathon Journey

The Space Apps experience was one we would say was quite enjoyable and absolutely fulfilling; every team member has discovered more about themselves, especially the true potential of their talents and what they are capable of doing. Of our main inspirations was our desire to have people more aware of the trajectory of the globe and how conditions are worsening over time with the consequences of global warming. Approaching the development process started with thorough research and analysis of data, as well as utilizing multiple open-source codes that would assist us with implementing our vision. Many of the setbacks included the rigidity of the open-source codes and their fragileness; with multiple programmers in the group, we have collectively worked to assist each other with as much as we could to get the project working. If we were to thank anyone, it would mainly be the organizers of this competition, AUK specifically, for providing us with such an enriching opportunity.
