High-Level Project Summary

Surviving on the surface of Venus is not easy; after several space missions, no device to explore Venus could withstand this hostile environment for more than 2 hours, let alone 60 days. That all changes with the advancement of a new power system proposed by Space Apps Team, 'The Endurance'. This team has designed a powerful, safe, and mission-capable energy system for this unprecedented use case. Using sustainable resources, an ultra-fast, rechargeable battery was developed with a super conductor material (resistant to corrosion, and 200x more resistant than iron), with a capacity to survive more than 60 days on Venus. and we named it the high-performance niobium battery (HPNB).

Detailed Project Description

Our storage system is developed from a super powerful material in its anode (TiNb2 O7 ), titanium and niobium, the most efficient materials today providing the most advanced technology that the NASA battery can have and we call it the high performance niobium battery (HPNB). This technology includes: Corrosion resistance, rechargeable battery with notable recharge time (-6 min), lamellar structures that facilitate the insertion of Na+ ions in its structure, greater energy density, increased storage capacity to +500w/h, increased of cycles, longer life, low environmental impact, safe operating voltage and low cost and more. Endurance expects that its useful will be able to meet the need for energy storage technologies to explore venus and be able to another space missions.

Hackathon Journey

the biggest challenge was to work with the diversity of the team members, as each one has a different age and talents, but this also made it possible for innovative skills to be explored throughout the challenge, creating a very strong bond of union and prosperity, making we present a good project.
