VISUALIZING THE JOVIAN SYSTEM LIKE NEVER BEFORE

High-Level Project Summary

Our app would help people from all fields to indulge in the glory of the Jove.It is a completely free, open-source image editing application that uses the three JunoCam-generated grayscale images, & develops them into colour ones. These generated images can serve a variety of uses for scientists and the general public as well, and some might even lead to new discoveries. In this app, Nasa's database of Jovian system's images would act as the backend and python or C would be the front end for the users to work with. The connector library would connect python/C to the database and make its resources accessible to the users.

Detailed Project Description

Our app would serve scientific, artistic as well as other fun purposes for the general public.

It will be connected to NASA's database of JunoCam and its features will allow the users to filter search results as per their needs, edit them, participate in polls and events and much more.

Components of the app will include-

1. Onoma: It's natural to nickname the things we love- and when it comes to something as exciting as space exploration, who would miss the chance? Our app’s artistic section would organize polls for naming the images in the databases, where the users would be free to name the images, and the one with the highest votes within 24 hours would be selected.

2. Artists would be provided with a platform to create their own art while referring to these images. This feature is inspired by the beloved fan art created on social platforms that we all enjoy. Every one of these competitions would be launched with a hashtag to put forth it as trending.

3. Sci-Pic: The scientific section of the app would have the capability to zoom into images and estimate the physical features of the regions of Jupiter and its moons through the ultimate NASA database. To give an instance this will allow the flow of discovery by a person sitting in one part of the world to communicate the idea through our app to get the assistance of a more qualified and resourceful person on the other side of the planet, together sparking global collaboration and maybe give way to a whole new revelation.

4: Raw: The images are outsourced directly from the JunoCam website, for creatives around the world to download and submit the colour-graded images to us.

The images generated would be a template for other innovative endeavours, too! So get your systems ready to boldly go into the world of Jove!!

5. Trivia Section: Let's go one step ahead and educate the world through the meaning of ever-loved quizzes and recreational experiences the many unknown facts and study estimations about the gas giant, Jove.

Space Agency Data

Nasa Juno Cam proved to be of great help while creating a layout for the project as without an existing vast database like that of NASA initiatives, the idea of a platform we intend to make would have been light years away.

IBM Cloud and Microsoft Azure services provided to us as free tools for this project were also essential in assistance to the application.

Hackathon Journey

Participating in this hackathon was a way to gain a whole new experience for our team. We are all passionate about space and we brainstormed ideas to create an app keeping in mind the perspectives of common people, fellow space enthusiasts, artists and scientific purposes.

We started off only 2 days back and developed ideas for our app together. All the team members contributed equally to the project and working together gave us a perspective different from our own.
