Our project is focused on the designing of tools, furniture, and any other object that could be helpful for a one-year mission on Mars. We made a few designs that optimize material and have multitask functions so that they could be helpful in any type of situation on Mars. We wanted to achieve designs that could someday be considered possible, so we worked hard on making them not impossible to manufacture. The designing software that we used was Solidworks.

We mainly used information from the official NASA and Mexican Space Agency official websites. We looked for news and articles that could help us determine every fact or aspect that could make us understand the reality of Mars and how to survive in this unknown territory.This type of information inspired our project to realize that this was not an easy challenge to accomplish.

The Space Apps experience was such a rich one to acquire knowledge for the skills we are trying to develop. We learned that we can think of many solutions as possible, but the complex part comes when we have to show it in a physical form. We decided to choose this challenge because it was the only one that had to do with model designing and as future designers, we thought it was a great idea to gain this type of experience. As a team, we solved any type of challenge by always trusting in each other and having the ability to recognize when we are losing track. We would like to thank our university to give us the chance of experiencing and enjoying for the first time the NASA Space Apps Hackathon, because most of us want to, someday, work for NASA.
