Nowadays, our world is in a stage of radical changes and constant innovation, while man’s curiosity about space is growing stronger every day. The technological progress available at the moment allows us to design prototypes, and propose ideas over what could become in the future, or even better, to make this future our present. Our project is based on creating 3D designs that serve as essential tools and furniture for a one year mission to Mars. It is important to emphasise that these tools are designed based on the demands of the planet's needs. Our goal is to make an efficient elaboration process with the correct organization and storage of our materials.
To resolve the matter, Outfitting a Mars Habitat, we’ve developed our own prototype: the Mighty Comets Experience (MCE), a multifunctional living space; along with complementary pieces to improve the quality of this space. This prototype’s objective is fulfilling several needs while optimizing space usage and minimizing material waste.
It has been an amazing and exciting experience. Working with friends on an application proyect has given us a wider view about developing and creating an idea. We choose this challenge because our team is formed by mechatronic engineers and we thought it will be interesting to apply the knowledge we have been acquiring the last couples of weeks at our classes. However, at the beggining we find it difficult to find a solution but thanks to brainstorming and communication between each member of the group we could develope a functional idea. The next step was desing the prototype and we did it working as a team and having in consideration the mechatronic engineers. Without doubts, Space Apps is one of the most demanding but interesting proyects we've been part of.

Imagine you’re an astronaut who has newly arrived on the Red Planet. Your habitat has been pre-constructed for you, but, other than three 3-D printers, it doesn’t have most of the things you need to live and work. Your challenge is to design tools, furniture, and other items to assist you on your one-year mission.
