Moonquake map

High-Level Project Summary

3d map of seismic moon events. Display data like day, amplitude, type and duration of each event. Also a filtering by type available for the 3d display map. Also Cheese mode. It allows to visualize multiple data in an easy and playful way. Using the texture and displacement map from NASA we created a sphere with moon proportions in three.js. Then, using python language, longitude and latitude from the dataset of each moonquake, we got position in the surface. After that a small sphere is painted in dark color, depending of the quake type, and a lighter sphere around with some transparency is displayed around. These second sphere has a radius directly proportional to the moonquake magnitude.

Hackathon Journey

Exciting about everyone around us. We met a lot of interesting people and we learn a lot about the moon, moonquakes and 3d mapping. Our team is excited about science divulgation so we wanted to create a fun, interesting and exciting project to develop in 36h.
