Global Finalist

Lil Astronaut

High-Level Project Summary

Our solution’s name is The Little Astronaut, an interactive application targeting kids and teens where they will be learning information about different NASA’s current and past programs/missions and then testing their knowledge through a series of interactive quizzes/challenges.It’s a general fact that the most effective way of learning is through interactions and that’s exactly what we wanted to target. Our solution is based on interactivity, we focused on making our user feel the NASA experience and getting him involved as much as possible in every mission's procedure.

Detailed Project Description

Our challenge goal was to create an interactive environment in which the user can live NASA's experience. He will have challenges that are based on NASA's actual program where for every challenge he will go through the spaceship’s launch into space. He will later be tested for every information he learns through the specific mission. His answers will be scored and that will give him access to experience new challenges. The whole process was designed and implemented to focus on the interactive part since this is considered a crucial element in our application.

Our app is a mobile application that was built flatter. As for the design and prototype, we used Figma to build and implement them.

Space Agency Data

None

(We used the articles that were given in order to understand more about how NASA works and how the missions are done, the hazards how they're faced with. The articles were really informative and helped us know more about NASA.)

Hackathon Journey

Our experience in this Space Apps was really cool. We learned a lot about NASA'S missions and programs, the difficulties that they encountered during each one of them, and how they faced them. What most inspired us to choose this challenge was designed for children, since we know that the curiosity in a kid may level up his skills and grow his passion in the fields he really loves and we felt that if we had got a funny and interactive game as children, we would have been more curious about these important space topics, and it is exactly what we want to generate in these new generations. The approach we used was to learn by playing and having fun.

We were really a "TEAM", We never worked alone on a specific task, and helping each other helped us develop better and faster.

Finally, we would like to make a special thank you to NASA for this great opportunity.

For this challenge, we used NASA's mission’s resources. This resource helped us to group the launched rockets into categories with common targets and get insights about the whole launching process.

As an additional resource, we used the following resource describing the timeline of all the launched programs. this helped us organize the timeline part within our challenges and missions
