High-Level Project Summary

We’ve developed an educational platform that helps youngsters to understand complex concepts on the studies of the sun. They'll have access to a myriad of data, learning how to put it in perspective to their reality. Our goal is to develop children's critical thinking by showing them how to read and use data. Using a data-driven approach is important because it helps the decision-making process and makes them more independent from possible data manipulation. Our platform will have clear explanations on complex concepts and checkpoints to ensure their understanding. At the end of the learning track, they'll have a certificate and suggestions on how to proceed with their studies.

Detailed Project Description

The Aratu Space platform has a main page that has 5 buttons that redirect to other pages with the information and images. The main benefit is the language and the way we show data, by comparing to everyday life, helping the young people to put it in perspective and understand it. Their data literacy would increase and they would become independent to analyze, describe and explain data. We used Figma for prototyping and HTML and CSS for the development.

Hackathon Journey

Aratu team is a multidisciplinary team that already had a few members working together. We were driven by the educational purpose of the challenge, since we want to help children to understand matters of the sun and space, make them believe they can be scientists and contribute to scientific production.

Our approach was to connect design and software development to create something extraordinary. We used design thinking processes and tools to dive deep into the challenge, researching strategic key-points to help us understand how we could use a more accessible language in order to break complex matters into smaller ones, and connect them after all of the process. 

We solved setbacks by asking for the mentoring team help, and they helped us to keep calm during the process.
