High-Level Project Summary

Animation video production bringing Gamification elements and Minecraft game resources. The choice for this type of video and platform is due to the reach that this game has, not only in the younger gamer community, but in various age groups, including professionals from areas not related to games. The idea is to publicize the Parker space probe project facilitating the understanding of the mission. The video seeks to use digital resources and simple language in order to have a wide reach, making the dissemination of Parker's mission more efficient. The animation tells the story from Parker's early theoretical developments to the development and launch of the probe.

Detailed Project Description

The animation depicts the mission of the Parker solar probe, the result of studies by astrophysicist Eugene Parker, on the understanding of the Sun. In an essential contribution to astrophysics, he developed a mathematical theory to explain the existence of a phenomenon called "solar wind". But Parker was still trying to understand why the solar corona was hotter than its outer region, the sun's atmosphere. On August 12, 2018, produced by NASA, the Parker Probe was launched to orbit the sun. Thus, in its 8th flyby, specific magnetic conditions were recorded that show the boundary where the sun's atmosphere ends and the solar wind takes over, called the critical Alfvén surface, validating the great heating of the corona through the acceleration of the solar winds. . The importance of taking this long story in a relaxed and transparent way is to reach a wider audience in order to arouse interest in the great phenomena of our solar system. The animation will address all these events using digital resources from the Minecraft game and simple language, facilitating the understanding of concepts related to the mission.

Space Agency Data

Based on data provided by the United States federal government agency (National Aeronautics and Space Administration - NASA), the project addresses materials as a form of greater knowledge to provide truthful information. We used some information from the Solar Parker Probe project, as it corresponds to our interest in telling the story using the visual media to ensure propagation and accessibility.

Hackathon Journey

The Hackathon provided us with a great learning experience and incredible experience, we learned the importance of teamwork, in addition to acquiring greater knowledge and studies about space, we took time to choose a challenge, we have a great curiosity about our system, and the The challenge we chose caught our attention, throughout the research, ideas emerged for a quick, understandable and accessible presentation of the proposed challenge, we approached the main points in a creative way that caught people's attention. We had some setbacks that were resolved, our team has a harmony that made our work easier. We owe our thanks to Flávio, vice director of Colégio Estadual Pedro Calmon, for his concern with our team and the others, providing adequate space and equipment for our work; to Fábio Argolo, professor and member of our team, for his work and interest in the team; to NTE 09, for providing the location; finally, to the Hack at schools project, for providing us with this opportunity.
