Chasqui Parker

High-Level Project Summary

Our team developed a cartoon in the Inca period. The story begins when the priest had a vision, in 8 years an eclipse is coming! For them it meant famine, loss, death, the end of their empire. So, they built someone capable of being as close to the God Inti (sun) as no other, they built Chasqui Parker, the first Inca probe, capable of "touching the sun". This challenge is resolved through the creation of a graphic and interactive cartoon, which is aimed at all people who are invented in NASA's achievements and investments, especially the Parker probe mission. It is important that people are attracted to science and inspire them with short stories in easy-to-understand language.

Detailed Project Description

The cartoon explains in a fun and simple way, the characteristics and capabilities of the Parker probe. You must access the link of the comic, and start reading this wonderful adventure (there are words in Quechua, their meaning is explained at the bottom of the page). As a team, we hope that people appreciate NASA's great effort to carry out the Parker probe mission, and learn more about the Inca culture. For the illustrations, Adobe Illustrator software was used.

Hackathon Journey

A very interactive experience, which has allowed each member to know their abilities and virtues, and the correct way to work as a team. We chose this challenge because we seek to inspire children, young people and adults to join this great experience and bet on science, conveying the importance of NASA and its great achievements, such as the construction of the Parker probe, who surprisingly managed to “touch the sun”. We had some setbacks, but as a team, we talked about it, assigning tasks to each member, managing to conclude our project.
