Sun Walker

High-Level Project Summary

Parker Solar Probe is the first human-made spacecraft to reach the corona surface of the sun. As it made it possible to cover a distance of 150M km & facing 2500 degrees F, that is why it is one of the most extraordinary symbols of science, engineering & heliophysics. The young generation must know about the significance of it. That’s why we made an app “Sun Walker” from which they will get all the information and data related to the Parker solar probe in a very well-organized and creative way. We made our app user-friendly & keep it updated by using NASA API. Our app is able to run on 3 platforms - Android, Web and IOS. We are hoping that our project will impact 1.2 billion young people.

Detailed Project Description

Covering 150M km & facing 2500degree F seems beyond human's limit. But NASA scientists overcame all the difficulties and launched the Parker Solar Probe which entered the corona surface of the sun. As it is an extraordinary symbol of science and engineering which is why the young generations must need to know about it properly. But how will they get all of these complex things in a well-organized way?

Our solution:

For the first time, an app based on the Parker Solar probe has been developed that directly targets the young generation which is named ‘Sun Walker’. By using our app users can get all data & information related to Parker Solar Probe in a very well-organized way.

In the app, firstly we don’t keep any registration page for easy access. Secondly, on the home page, you see a lot of options. By pressing the button 'way to the sun' you will be able to explore the journey of the Parker Solar Probe. Here are two little girls explaining the journey of the Parker Solar Probe to you by storytelling method. For that not only are normal people able to read the information but also the storytelling method will help 39 million blind people around the world who are unable to read the information but can listen.

Thirdly, there is a section of quizzes on our app which tests your knowledge of the Parker solar probe and will give you a certificate of appreciation if you get passing marks on the quiz. Most importantly our app is connected to the NASA database through API. Moreover, on the home page, you will find more videos related to space and the Parker Solar Probe which will give you the chance to explore new things daily. It is to be mentioned that our app has an entertainment section too where you can play some space-related games for your amusement.

And finally, our app has a support section also where you can directly email us for any query. Our expert team is always ready to help you.

We also arrange a google site for better visualization of the app without installation. This site works as an App catalog which helps to understand the work and pages inside the app.

Hackathon Journey

As we were one of the local winners of the 2021 edition, that’s why we were waiting this year for opening the challenges.

After opening the challenges, we found the challenge “on the way to the sun” seems very much interesting to us. That’s why we choose this challenge. Our challenge is to tell the young audiences the inspiring story of Parker Solar Probe in a creative way.

According to our challenge, we started to collect data and made our challenge blueprint. We have developed an app using NASA API and data through which the young generation can know about the parker solar probe in a very organized way. By submitting the presentation of our project we were selected in the top 50 teams for the 36-hour hackathon in Bangladesh.

It was a great feeling to be selected for a hackathon like this. This hackathon is a great experience for us as for the first time we joined this kind of hackathon physically. We have many fun memory here. All our team members gave their best in this hackathon through their hard work. Finally we submitted our first presentation of 240 seconds on the first day of the hackathon for local judging.

Our mentors were praising our project, that was a happy moment. Our team members stayed up all night to complete our final project. We are hoping to be selected for the global round by securing a good position. But if we can’t do that, we won’t be upset. Because the learning we gathered from this hackathon will be helpful in our future life.
