Parker's Journey to the Sun!

High-Level Project Summary

Parker Solar Probe is going to space to visit his friend; The Sun, Parker is quite nervous of the journey due to the hardships and obstacles he has been informed he will face. His “parents” or in other words, his creators do not want him to go. We can portray the solar field and as Parker’s obstacles as he journeys to the Sun. We can highlight asteroids and the solar belt and the miles he had to travel to get to the sun as other obstacles. We can also portray the number of times he did a “flyby” pass the sun that scientists monitored as the most impenetrable obstacle. We can depict his suit or armor which is what he is made of as a superpower that aids him in accomplishing the challenge.

Detailed Project Description

Our children's book is an exciting way to make young readers aware of the Parker Solar Probe and the challenges it faced during its mission to the Sun. Our final completed book will be an engaging story that children can read not only for entertainment, but also for knowledge and insights about space exploration.

Space Agency Data

The only Space Agency Data we used was “NASA Enters the Solar Atmosphere for the First Time, Bringing New Discoveries” and “Traveling to the Sun: Why Won’t Parker Solar Probe Melt?”. We researched the articles thoroughly and included the important information in our children's book.

Hackathon Journey

This journey was definitely an exciting experience and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the NASA SpaceApps challenge. Through this challenge we learned a lot about space exploration, particularly about exploring the Sun and the obstacles the Parker Solar Probe overcame.
