EO SPACE

High-Level Project Summary

We have created a web app, an easy-to-use learning & resource platform called EO SPACE, that automatically collects earth observation information from NASA & numerous capacity-building groups and gathers it into one place. This innovation will serve as an important part of society because it will aid the community as well as stakeholders by instantly providing them with the most relevant up-to-date information in real-time to quickly ‘well-informed ’decisions about their most important matters at hand - be it natural disasters, climate change, and many more.

Detailed Project Description

EO SPACE’s AI-powered platform will adapt to a student’s needs based on the recorded student’s interaction with the platform. This innovation will track every personal interaction made with the online platform from inputs made to learning selections made. In addition to the real-time resources provided to the student, the AI algorithm will also assess the student’s records, identify intellectual strengths/weaknesses, and then create personalized learning pathways for each person in order to provide the most necessary information/resources and accurately provide the needed assistance. Other core technologies used included: NextJS, StrapiCMS & PostgreSQL.

Space Agency Data

At present, we leveraged data on EO training materials from NASA, specifically from the APPLIED REMOTE SENSING TRAINING PROGRAM - ARSET. People can access the resources they need to build knowledge and skills on EO data and how they can apply it based on their needs. The information from ARSET was sorted and arranged in the best way possible to ensure it is easy to access whenever needed. Next steps in our project timeline include gathering more data by building API’s that pull data and real time information/resources from the other agencies.

Hackathon Journey

The Space Apps experience was thrilling and exciting for our team. We learned so much. Our team thrived on open communication as well as the spirit of working together on issues that benefited not only our project but also our target audience - from contributing to our GitHub repositories to designing via Figma. Decision was done by analyzing the pros and cons and weighing out the benefits that every decision brought to the team. We worked together to make decisions and collaborate via communication channels that ensured all decisions were well documented and could be reviewed. This inculcated in each one of us a collaborative spirit that we hope to carry on as we progress with our project.
