Beeology Superhero

High-Level Project Summary

This project consisted of developing a simple website that can be used by anyone from children to older adults. In this website you can find information about the conditions and experiments that are currently a challenge for survival in space. Also, the website shows "Astrobeeing", a being capable of surviving in the most unimaginable conditions anywhere in the universe.

Detailed Project Description

Our project is a web page with simple language, which tries to approach in an informative way, the adverse situations that a human being can experience in space and what happens with other organisms. In this way, the conclusions were reached that the Lichen should be the basis of the super organism that can survive these conditions. For the development of the images, Dall-e artificial intelligence was used, to avoid the limitation of images from free repositories. In addition, due to the short period of time, the wix platform was used, instead of using back end and front end programming, also, wix was useful because it was free hosting.

The web page shows an all-public-friendly interface with a really empathetic cartoonish character, in order to catch the attention of everyone who interacts with it. You can navigate trough it using the main horizontal menu in the header of the page, or by using the buttons placed by the side of the character. Every button and menu shows information based on 5 different main themes: health issues of space travel, dangers in space, experiments and research being done for space travel, how living creatures behave in space and our own space-adapted creature: astrobeeing.

We intend that everyone can use this page freely and be interested in space travel as much as we do.

Space Agency Data

We used the information from the following links in order to get in touch with what we had to develop for this challenge, and what we needed to communicate to everyone who visited our webpage.

Space Biology Program | Science Mission Directorate (nasa.gov)

HRR - Risks (nasa.gov)

5 Hazards of Human Spaceflight | NASA

GenelabRepo (nasa.gov)

Hackathon Journey

The Hackathon experience was very interesting and satisfying as it allowed us to learn new things such as: Learning to work in a team and develop an idea in a short period of time, the subsequent planning and implementation of this idea, as well as learning how to use several tools in a reduced time and learning a lot of information from several sources.

We had a really great time working together as a team, struggling and realizing how to solve every problem we faced. We are very satisfied with our results, and although we may not be winners, everything we learned and everything we did is enough reward for us.
