High-Level Project Summary
Our game "last chance" is about a talented astronaut, Göksel, who went through multiple experiments including three different extremophiles to obtain their abilities. Scientists used gene transfer to merge extremophiles' different abilities with Göksel for an important mission she has to succeed in order to save humankind. For this important mission, she has to visit 3 planets to actually be able to test if her abilities work.

Detailed Project Description
GÖKSEL
Göksel (our main character) is a retired astronaut that was chosen for a dangerous mission that included going through different experiments in order to save humanity. She had retired because of a terrifying accident that happened on her last mission. The reason they specifically chose her was because she was a very talented astronaut who was loved and respected by everyone.
THE MISSION
The first step is transferring genes extremophiles have that enable them to survive extreme conditions by using restriction enzymes to Göksel.
The extremophiles that are used:
- Pyrococcus Abyssi : Can live under high pressure and temperature.
- Methanopyus Kandleri: Can stand extreme heat.
- Deinococcus Radiodurans: Can stand extreme cold.
The goal is to turn Göksel into a super being that can tolerate extreme conditions of other planets and outer space.
The second part of the mission is where the player gets involved in the story. Göksel is sent on a space trip in our solar system to test her new "super" abilities. She will visit three planets: Venus, Mercury, and Eris. The player will decide which extremophiles' ability Göksel will use for each planet. If the player's answer is incorrect Göksel will die and the level will start again.
HOW WILL EXTREMOPHILES HELP GÖKSEL?
The planets that we chose were the best fit to test the mission.
- Venus: high pressure
- Mercury: extreme heat
- Eris: extreme cold
MINI-GAMES
The game will pop up some mini quizzes about casual everyday astronaut issues and how to solve them between the planets.
Such as sight/hearing/smelling/gravity...
Our goal is to teach our players about extremophiles and how they can help us with space travel. We also draw attention to the hardships astronauts face in space.
Space Agency Data
We used NASA's data to learn about experiments that've been done on extremophiles.
