Detailed Project Description
space crawlers!
space crawlers js a website to show about my entry to the space biology superhero chalenge. hover over parts of it's body to learn more about them and how they help the crawler survive in hostile environments.
the space crawlers website was built in html, javascript and css. the server was built with node.js using express to simplify the server code. the server originally used the built-in http module, but it was too complicated and express simplified the server code to make it easier to write within the 2-day time frame.
however, the beautiful space crawlers were drawn with boxy-svg.com, an online SVG image editing tool
Space Agency Data
i used information from several space agencies to research the dangers that the crawlers would encounter in space.
Hackathon Journey
over the course of the hackathon, i learnt a lot about a lot of things. i learnt lots about web development, especially server-side backends. i also learned lots about animations using CSS to animate parts of the crawlers.
i had to solve a lot of problems throughout the two days making this. most notably, i spent a lot of time thinking about how to fix a bug that made it impossible to access the server from another device.
i would really like to thank my local leader, john bradford, for all of the help he gave me when solving difficult problems. i dont think i could've made this without him
