Space Super Hero Exploration

High-Level Project Summary

Space Superhero Exploration is a browser game designed to help children as young as 8 years of age understand the difficulties of space exploration and how scientific research and technological advances in various research areas help humanity overcome them. "NASA has managed to create a living organism with very high evolutionary capabilities and easy to adhering to new types of DNA mutations. Now they've sent this new and unusual astronaut to explore our solar system! It's up to you as a player to explore space while using all the research nasa has ever done to enhance your Astronaut Superhero, making you increasingly prepared for even more distant and challenging journeys."

Detailed Project Description

The game is also being shaped to be played by children with autism and we are putting our efforts into developing means that generate accessibility for other types of disabilities.

The game also has an area for developing new solutions, where children can give their ideas to help humanity. The world in a child's eyes is something unique and wonderful, and we want them to contain us how they see these problems and how they think we can solve them. Also ad new languages

The game uses the 5 Hazards of Human Spaceflight as means of generating the game's difficulties and progression, and uses the data provided by GeneLab as a means of applying improvements. For example, one of the Hazards of Human Spaceflight is Space Radiation, if you mix the DNA from a tardigrade to your Space Superhero it will modify how radiation affects your superhero.

A game library has also been developed, so that all children who are more interested in the subject can see the studies used as the basis of the creation of the game and thus develop and who knows how to become future scientists, engineers, physicists, astrologers, geologists or NASA astronauts!

The game begins with a brief introduction to contextualize the player.

"Your goal is to explore the solar system"

The difficulties of this game are focused on the top 5 Hazards of human spaceflight:

1.Radiation: During the gameplay, you will find radiation that will affect your Superhero. Radiation decreases your life!

2.Isolation and confinement: The more time you spend in space, the more you will be affected by loneliness and isolation. It is represented as a timer, if you fail to arrive on time on a planet will get lost to insanity, but calm, Nasa and your team will not let you down, so they will send you items to help you get through this lonely isolation, these items when collected increase your timer.

3.Distance from Earth: The farther from Earth you are, the harder it is for you to get help, so the further away from home you are the less often you will receive help from NASA.

4.Gravity (or lack thereof): This difficulty will affect your Superhero during your planetary exploration. (Rocket Map) *

5.Hostile/closed environments: This difficulty will affect your Superhero during your planetary exploration. (Rocket Map) *

*Rocket Map: These are the points where we will develop our project for future updates.

Hackathon Journey

For me, this Hackathon was very beneficial, both in terms of knowledge, both in terms of development and knowledge in the biology part, where a series of research was needed in areas where none of the team mastered and thus bringing a large amount of knowledge. Despite the difficulties, we still managed as a team to develop a project that everyone felt satisfied at the end of this journey.
