Boundless Mutations: How Every Atmosphere in the Solar System Works.

High-Level Project Summary

We created a character (superheroine) whose name is Bellatrix. She will go through different mutations, so it can adapt to each planet without any problem. Their mutations vary both in terms of their physical appearance and their DNA. Thus, its main function will be to explain in a creative and differentiated way why there are complications for us, human beings, to be able to inhabit other planets, to know their particular characteristics and how difficult it is to travel in space.

Detailed Project Description

The project is a platform that presents the life of a heroine, Belatrix. Her power developed on Earth allows her to develop abilities for planetary travel, mutating the heroine's DNA and also the bacteria developed within her. The objective of the project is to propose the necessary conditions for the existence of interplanetary life. The platform developed by the group brings the characteristics of the heroine, as she adapts to each planet. The character's transformation on each planet is brought about by the character's color change. The “Sketchbook” application was used, as well as the programming language, HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript. Our project will be a website where people can learn more about space travel between planets. We created a character that will help in understanding the theme, as he will change according to the planet he is on, because of the atmosphere and its conditions.

We use the drawing app “Sketchbook”, to develop all of Bellatrix's digital arts. We also use it to develop the micro-organism (bacteria) art where it will solve all the problems that exist in space such as extreme gravity, disrupted sleep and circadian rhythms, limited supplies and access to medical care, among other space problems.

Throughout the research on each of the planets of the Solar System, on how we can develop our microorganism (example: DNA, structure and its mutations).

We use the resources available on the NASA website - International Space Apps Challenge.

Bellatrix is a young girl who allows her to adapt to different planets because of her DNA and also because of a powerful bacteria in her organism that guarantees her to survive in any planetary environment.

Genetics: The heroine's organism is able to absorb the DNA of different organisms from bacteria from different planets, whether from decomposed or dead organisms. This power allows to survive planets

How it works: The bacterium allows the heroine to survive different planetary characteristics that do not allow humans to survive on these planets.

How she solves the challenge: Interplanetary travel is a challenge for the conquest of space. With the possibility of adapting to different environments. Thus, our solution to the challenge is to propose a heroine that has the possibility of genetic alterations, to adapt to the planet, being able to live in any of them. With this, the intention is to show the needs and what is necessary for astronauts to deal with.

Hackathon Journey

It was a pleasant experience for all the team members, we delved deeper into the studies on the effects of solar radiation on the different atmospheres of the planets, because they are not habitable for humans, animals, plants and other organisms. Faced with this situation, we developed a super heroine, where she will have several mutations according to the planet that will be visited. Throughout the challenges, we researched in depth how to develop a real organism. During the Hackathon, we had some setbacks, we ended up getting involved in some internal discussions because of the pressure, but we quickly resolved ourselves, during the event too, we got to know amazing people, we would definitely come back for years to come. We would like to thank Thiago Pereira Bueno immensely, who helped us in the creation and programming of the site.
