Bon Voyage

High-Level Project Summary

We created a game in which the player goes out to space and he is at the start vulnerable to all the risks of space travel. The player must conquer challenges to move ahead so he can evolve, each evolution rewards the player with a super power which provides him immunity against a certain stressor. The first player to reach all 10 evolutions wins. The challenges include getting hit by an asteroid or getting stuck on a deserted planet or falling into a black hole! These hurdles make the game way more interesting because what is a game without risks and failuresUsing trivia questions and info drops the player learn about interesting information and NASA's efforts.Format: Analog

Detailed Project Description

BON VOYAGE

Our project is a kind of board game that helps in understanding the stressors the astronauts have to deal with!

What exactly does it do?

Our project is a kind of board game in which the player rolls a dice and moves according to it while on the path to evolution,

Well, what is evolution?

On level 0, the player is not immune to any stress, and as it keeps on evolving it keeps gaining immunity to a new kind of stressor.

How does it work?

The player starts with evolution 0 and finishes at evolution level 10.

While on the path to evolution there are many hurdles and plus points too, let's see what they are:

One of which is UFO Rendezvous, Whoever lands on this tile has to answer a question card, whoever clears it is free to jump 2 tiles forward, and if it goes wrong he moves 2 tiles backward!

The 2nd special tile is Asteroid Hit, if the player lands on an asteroid hit he is taken back to the nearest UFO Rendezvous tile and the player has to answer another tough question

The 3rd tile is Deserted planet whoever lands on a deserted planet has to skip its next dice roll which makes him 1 step behind the other players!

The 4th tile is Refuel, who ever lands on this tile goes directly to evolution.

The 5th tile is the blackhole, if you land here you are sucked back to You Met An Alien

The 6th is You Met An Alien, here you test your luck. Here you get 5 options:

  • You can get de-evolutionized, You're down a level now
  • Direct to Refuel which takes you directly to the evolution
  • The next time you land on an asteroid hit it won't hit you!
  • Next time You find a deserted planet you won't lose your next turn
  • You will directly go to evolution
  • Move some steps ahead

In the end, the player gets immune to all kinds of stressors and is all good to go to Mars!

What benefits does it have?

It has many benefits one of the MOST important benefits is that it provides you with a chance to learn everything about the stressors the 2nd benefit is that it's cool and fun you won't get bored!

What tools, coding languages, hardware, or software did you use to develop your project?

We used, Figma, and Canva for the designing purpose and creation for our analog game!

Space Agency Data

We used the

Nasa Human ResearchRoadmap :Risks

This data helped us recognize the risks the astronauts face while in space and how it affects them and through this data, we could figure out the cure and potential risks faced by the astronauts during their journey

NASA space biology program:

Nasa space biology program provided us with the names of different organisms which helped us create our superheroes!

5 Hazards of human spaceflight:

This data helped us make questions related to hazards so that we could educate our youth about the common hazards of human spaceflight.

Hackathon Journey

Well, what do I say about this journey? It's been one hell of a journey it wasn't easy at all times or I would say it wasn't easy at all but we made it through! We did it! It required consistency, hard work, and obviously teamwork. We hadn't been able to do anything without each other we held on tight, there were times when some of us thought of giving up but giving up is never an option and we kept on motivating each other, discovered ourselves found new ways to get our work done learned a lot put in a lot of efforts!

One thing that I have realized in all of this is that without your team you are incapable of doing anything they are like a backbone and you always need to keep reminding yourself and each other that "We got this!" because guess what we really got this!

We faced many challenges and setbacks but we considered them as a hurdle that we needed to cross and we crossed it by learning from different resources and teaching each other bits of what we already knew!

Taking up on this challenge was a very easy decision as it caught our eye from the very moment we saw its objective it was so catchy and it was a way to spread awareness so why not?
