High-Level Project Summary

Our website aims to provide free, hands-on, experiential learning resources geared towards 3 different levels of experience: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Additionally, users of all abilities should be able to navigate and access the information they need. Users are provided with a combination of links to resources, internship opportunities, books, games, videos, and popular social media accounts that promote the work and love of science.

Detailed Project Description

Our project targets learners at all levels, using a hands-on approach that takes learning beyond the classroom. Along with broadening the knowledge of our users, we also use technology like social media to spark the interest of a wider audience and create a path to a love of science. Users create a profile, which tracks their progress and get rewarded for completion of each activity. Information is organized based on level of experience, and various types of resources are provided: no need for digging to find the information you need!

Hackathon Journey

As a team from various educational and artistic backgrounds; we have faced difficulties in the past when it has come to gathering resources. Our approach was to identify a common problem, and break down a solution that could target each part of it. Engaging with scientific information beyond paywall restricted research papers and lectures, particularly for youth, has been something we have struggled with. Our goal is to bring information, both educational and entertaining to promote passion and love for science. We learned to work together and utilize our different skills to create something we could all use. Although we faced many challenges along the way, we learned to overcome them by consulting mentors and collaborating on solutions. We'd like to thank all mentors and hosts at Mountain View!
