CHANGE YOUR VIEW OF SPACE WITH STEAM

High-Level Project Summary

Internet is highly used by people for receiving information of all kinds. Although it might be confusing to find the accurate results that you are looking for. Especially about space related occasions. We developed according to the needs to find and learn in a much easier way. Our project mainly relies on developing a website to inform people of scientific studies. The project’s aim is to easen up the announcing that’s done by NASA and serve precalculated data. The website that we formed uses STEM and art. With periodical updates we aspire to inform people by going in the same direction while giving them a view of art at the same time.

Detailed Project Description

Our objective is to show precalculated results and datas with the help of art. The project uses science and converts it to maths while using technology and software engineering as a way of forming a website. This website is a free platform that can be activated with a single link. It’s easy to use and beneficial for sharing data.

We formed this website using editor.vix.com which is a beneficial website creator. We used it for adding texts, graphics and additonal animations where it was needed.

Our main topic while developing the website was the data of sunspots and the graphic of the change that’s occured according to the change of time. We used the data for showing the butterfly effect and how it was named visually. We wanted to show the art of water marbling and the similarities between sunspots and the chemical reaction that happens in water. It’s been seen that a lot of similar scientific cases have resemblance with art. The website we formed will be showing space related results with art as well as other significant developments.

This project offers an easier and a more secure way to get information. Using graphics that are formed by a result of multiple studies gives people a more accurate data at the end. That speeds up the process of reaching a correct result. And showing the mirrored versions with art we are offering an enjoyable learning process.

Space Agency Data

We used NASA’s data from GONG telescope in California on sunspots in this project. We used the visual and textual results to form a graphic. And used this precalculated database. We showed the visual change in time. And showed the resemblence of marble art and sunspots.

The Jupiter data and The Apollo Project data are from NASA and we used them as a way of informing people of different type of scientific cases.

Hackathon Journey

Space Apps was a very good opportunity to learn more about projects and how to give presentations. Forming teams and developing projects according to the challenges gave a chance to socialize.

We found it hard to achieve the accurate information on internet. We thought about a way to develop a platform that would give people the necessary datas with the hint of art in it. We shared the task between the members and tried to solve the assignments in the most efficient way possible.

We would like to thank everyone who supported us. Bahçeşehir 50. Yıl, especially our teacher, Sevda Yüce. NASA Space Apps for giving us this opportunity to test ourselves and ODTÜ for making it possible for us to have this great time.
