High-Level Project Summary
We have created a fun easy-to-understand video by combining amusic, art and information technology how gravity affects the sound of the pianofrom different planets. In video, we used the stop-motion technique, which is an old cartoonmaking technique. We found it important to make science fun for children, we carried out ourstudies in this field. The method of watching animated films can be used to increase studentscuriosity and interest in science. The importance of our project; is to combine childrens knowledgeand skills in mathematics and science with informatics and visual arts skills, in addition to the supportof animation films made with music using piano sounds and stop motion.

Detailed Project Description
Many of us know gravity as Isaac Newtons apple story. It has been taught in schools since our
childhood, that gravity was discovered with Newtons realization and enlightenment as a result of an
apple falling on his head. What is called gravity is essentially when two bodies attract each other, and
the gravitational force depends on the radius and mass of the planets. In other words, all planets
have their own gravity. Even the gravity measured in NASA's GRACE mission differs in different parts
of the world.
The fact of the matter is that the existence of space and gravity will cause many more theories,
researches and analyzes to be put forward, who knows beyond imagination. Our place in this NASA
project is to make information, teaching fun through art, music and information technologies and
to increase the interest of students who will build the future in scientific studies.
Have you ever thought about whether the gravity, which Newton found the support of the falling of
the apple on the tree, affects the sound waves?
Gravity affects the temperature and density of the atmosphere and, as a result, the properties of the
sound waves propagating through it. That is, everything that affects the environment also affects the
sound wave. In addition, the sound may be thin, thick, squeaky or hoarse due to the gases in the
environment. In short, gravity and environment together have a profound effect on sound. Using this
information, we explained the differentiation of sound waves arising from the different features of
the planets with an animated film by using the Stop-Motion technique, adding piano and artistic
designs. Stop-motion technique; It is based on the principle of setting the camera against an object
and taking a single frame, then moving the object a little and taking a new frame and completing the
animation by repeating it. We designed the photographic fields we created while taking the photo
frames in a way that resembles the features of planets and earth structures. For example, we used
caramelized sugar colored with red food coloring to simulate the igneous nature of the planet Venus.
We have prepared a video by using the Stop-Motion technique, that is, by photographing objects. In
our video, we thought to make the gravity of the planets fun by combining a little art with a little
music. Based on the fact that the sound is different on other planets, we changed the thickness and
intensity of the sound.
Space Agency Data
The following article on NASA's official site about gravity and the article on sound changes on the planet Venus are among the research that inspired our project.

In our experience, we learned how the sound is produced on the planets, how an animated movie is
produced using the stop-motion technique, how the thickness and volume of the sounds coming out
of the piano on different planets change, and we noticed the changes.
In the age in which we live, children and students are generally getting acquainted with music, which
is an important area of art, through the piano instrument. We have been inspired by the curiosity of
how the sounds coming out of the piano, which we play fondly, are heard on other planets under the
influence of different properties such as gravity. Our approach to performing the project, the project
data to investigate the techniques we use and collect the necessary information for the stop-motion
technique needs to learn by applying through the art of design, materials, sounds and produce music
in my experience, in short, our approach is based on the invention by applying a learning experience.
At the beginning of the challenges faced by our team;
- To ensure that the scene made with the artistic design used in the stop motion technique
- remains intact,
- Not being able to provide sufficient tools during miniaturization while creating design scenes,
- ie creating planets,
- Taking the necessary photos for the animation film again and again and this process takes
- time and energy,
- Processing the frames on the computer to produce the animated movie requires expertise
- and takes a long time,
- Difficulty finding effects and sounds to show the variation of sounds on planets,
- There comes the need for breaks for reflection and rest.
In solving the difficulties our team faced;
- By increasing the durability of the stage using various adhesives and mounting,
- Craft materials and materials collected from nature in miniaturizing planets,
- In the surface formations of the planets, for example, we used melted sugar with food
- coloring added to the creative idea to create the surface of Venus.
- We kept our motivation and determination strong to shoot the frames one by one many
- times in stop-motion,
- We received support from our family when converting movie frames to animation on the
- computer,
- In order to find effects and sounds for sounds, the thickness and thinness of the notes on
- different sides of the piano were used, and the effects were researched from the Internet
- and converted with the help of various programs.
- Our families supported our creative ideas on this issue and provided the necessary and
- appropriate working environment.
