Detailed Project Description
Story
1630: It was realized early on that mud and marshes generate combustible gases. Van Lemond (NL)
1776: VOLTA (IT) discovered methane in marsh gas.
Methanization is the result of a complex microbial activity, carried out under anaerobic conditions. The process takes place in four distinct phases, each carried out by a specialized class of microorganisms, which grow in the absence of oxygen (facultative or strict):
Space Agency Data
Stage 1 and 2: Hydrolysis and acidogenesis Degradation of polymers into monomers and then volatile fatty acids. This is a limiting stage that can be improved by a pre-treatment, but blockages are quite rare in practice.
Stage 3: Acetogenesis Transformation of VFA, hydrogen and carbon dioxide into acetic acid. This stage is very fast compared to the others.
Stage 4: Methanogenesis Formation of methane either by degradation of acetic acid (70% of production) or by reduction of CO2 by hydrogen (30% of production).

COGENERATION
Definition
Cogeneration is the simultaneous production of two different forms of energy in the same plant.
The most frequent case is the simultaneous production of electricity and useful heat by thermal engines or gas turbines.
Principle
The idea of cogeneration is based on the fact that electrical production releases a large amount of thermal energy at medium temperature, which is usually dissipated in the environment. In response to a thermal demand (heating, domestic hot water, industrial process, etc.), it proposes to use the heat from the electrical generation cycle as a thermal source.
To illustrate this in practice, in a case of simultaneous need for electricity and heat:
- a conventional configuration could be a gas turbine (electricity production) and a natural gas boiler (heat production) separated ;
- a cogeneration configuration would be a gas turbine coupled to a heat recovery unit fed by the exhaust gases (cogenerated electricity and heat production).
References
The solution is the remediation of the biotope (living environment) thereby mitigating the deterioration of the globe;
The resolution of MWINDADETEC project will focus on the elimination of the problem of air pollution as well as that of degradation;
MWINDADETEC differs from any other project in this sense because it recovers organic and fossil wastes of all kinds to produce energy (electric, thermal, air conditioning, heating, etc.) which will be redistributed in several forms.
