High-Level Project Summary
Web game and advent calendar to sparkle interest into James Webb Space Telescope images.Humans are explorers by nature and curiosity drives many of them. JWST is our portal to see far-away beauty. And I'd like more people to be fascinated by its capabilities and imagine what we could find in deep space.https://nebulum.art is a web game to help people imagine what JWST could see based on existing JWST images and AI.It allows people to play a game to guess which image is real and which is AI generated. Pick their favourite JWST image and generate images based on it.I've also setup an Advent Calendar, which would unveil one new JWST image daily and reward those who guess what is it.

Detailed Project Description
WHY:
JWST is our portal to see far-away beauty, and I'd like more people to be fascinated by its capabilities and imagine what we could find in deep space. Nebula images just so beautiful.
WHAT
Web app that helps people to create AI images of space objects, specifically utilizing JWST captured images.
Advent calendar that opens new JWST image every day, allowing people to guess what is on it and whether it is real or AI generated image. Some AI images are so beautiful too, and even they are not something humanity discovered, there's a chance something like this exists far far away, we've just haven't discovered it yet. And maybe AI / ML solutions would help us discover such space objects in future.
HOW
Used 2 no-code tools: https://advent.cards and https://prompts.page to build pages.
Used AI (Midjourney and Stable Diffusion) to generate images.
Used JWST captured images from NASA resources.
A NEW HOPE
My hope is people play around with these pages, learn about JWST, try to create their 'own' space objects, maybe save and print them, anything so theirs inner spark won't go out and they be thinking about future and beauty and consider this in theirs daily life or just get relaxed and hopeful. This is what art, images, poetry, movies do. How many people would live differently with something changed in theirs hearts after watching Interstellar?! I'd love more people, especially kids to have this 'something' inside. So there's a new hope...
NEXT
Will add more tools, games or features around these pages and JWST / AI images in particular.
I'd be proud if more people learn and become fascinated about all the work you do there. It's just so inspiring, hope to make other people inspired as well in different ways.
USED
AI
- Midjourney
- Stable Diffusion
No code tools to create pages
- https://prompts.page
Web frameworks, web platforms played around
- Next.js, React, Deno Fresh
- Vercel, Deno Deploy
- Supabase
Space Agency Data
Used images and information from

Mostly images captured by JWST and other telescopes.
Also AI (such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion) were used to generate images (some based on JWST images).
Hackathon Journey
START
This year started later than usual and hacking around alone. So basically have just short amount of time to build something fun to help engage people with JWST and sparkle theirs curiosity, make them feel explorers.
IDEAS
Generated bunch of ideas, some of them might build later. And decided to utilize few no code tools first.
I fell in love with Midjourney AI recently, so decided to utilize that as well. There is an option to generate image from a text description (like 'beautiful nebula') and/or image (here I've used some JWST images).
ADVENT CALENDAR
So first thing is an Advent Calendar, with images from JWST / generated by AI.
Basically every day new door with image (or whatever you want) would be opened. Thus every day users would see some new image, might guess what is it, learn and earn a reward.
There's a tool https://advent.cards that allow to build these kind of pages and customize them.
PROMTPS PAGE
Next step is to build a page, so other people could see / generate images of different space objects (nebula, galaxy, planet, star etc) in different styles, and discover what JWST has captured, how it looks like in reality and compare real vs AI images. It also allows kind of 'imagine new / own nebula', thus making people sort of explorers.
There's a tool https://prompts.page to build such pages and customize them.
FINISH
Probably, would continue playing around with what could be built using JWST images and how to inspire people's creativity and awareness into this.
