Technological proposal for a game application to help people learn about the Space Telescope

High-Level Project Summary

The purpose of the Progressive Web App that was developed is for users to learn about the basic principles and amazing capabilities of using space telescopes.We strongly believe that this prototype is a perfect start to implement in science and astrophysics related schools and courses.

Detailed Project Description

The objective of this app is to be a game that shows differents informations about the spaces telescopes and how awesome they are.


To use the app just need to go to the page https://looking-glass-delta.vercel.app, and install to use offline.


With this app the user can learn about the spaces telescopes and the amazing capture that they do on the huge universe, even there is a game that simulate a very simple version of how it is must be operate a telescope.


I will be amazing to motivate and show to the users how amazing is the universe and what we are doing to see it.


This app was build with Javascript language using React Js library with create-react-app with a template of pwa, and others complement libraries to give a game experience, also we use the local storage of devices to keep the experience even if the user computer/telephone goes offline.

Space Agency Data

We use data from Space Telescope Science, California Institute of Technology and multimedia files available on the official NASA website.


Mostly, we use images to use in our game logic, inspired by the ideas of the potential considerations of the space apps challenge.

Hackathon Journey

This hackathon was an opportunity to test our knowledge and skills.


We decided to do this challenge because it is focused on digital games. We believe that thanks to games you have the opportunity to develop a much more dynamic learning, broadening the user's vision of the world of space telescopes.


Even the members of the group had the opportunity to learn and know that NASA has different types of telescopes that work in different ways and that each one was manufactured for a specific task.


To develop this project we use a predictive system where we forecast everything, which means that at the beginning of the project we try to understand what type it is, what we are going to have and how we are going to execute it, that is, we make a plan.


Any type of planning needs to be constantly updated. It is a dynamic concept. There are many projects where planning is done at the beginning, it is printed and adhered to the wall where it is not touched again. This is not the type of planning that we have in mind since things always change in the real world and these deviations and changes have to be reflected in order to show new ways of working to obtain the product we are thinking of.
