Track the Space Station in 3D

High-Level Project Summary

we've developed an open source application to track the space station and provides interactive 3D visualization of earth and the station itself, the most important features are hand control and voice searching using artificial intelligent algorithms in order to facilitate the using of our application .

Detailed Project Description

Our solution has the ability to:

  1. showing the 3D model of both the earth and the space station
  2. Track the location of a space station in real time
  3. Control the earth model by hand movements using computer vision
  4. Control the search bar by voice to change the focus of the page to a specific area using speech recognition

as you see here this picture contain 3D models of earth and station

we changed the page focus to a specific area using only our voice

This video is showing how the earth model can be controlled with hand movements

Space Agency Data

WorldWind : a free, open-source virtual globe for web pages. Written in JavaScript (NASA) we used it to to quickly create interactive visualizations of geographic information on an interactive 3D

NASA Earth Observations WMS : we used it for retrieving georeferenced map imagery data

tle.js: we used it to simplify satellite TLEs and SGP4 with a friendly interface.

OpenCV is the huge open-source library for the computer vision, we used it to detect and track hand movement what's enable us of controlling the 3D models by hand movements.

Web Speech API :makes it easy to add speech recognition to your web pages We integrate it with the input field to enable the functionality of searching by voice

Hackathon Journey

Our journey in space apps is one of the greatest experience we had .

We had a chance to know many challenges that the world is facing right now and also meet some new people whom are interested in solving them.

While browsing NASA challenges we found so many interesting ones ,but there is a challenge that get ours attention and inspired us.

we found out that there is too many space station trackers, but they often have a limited features and capabilities .

So we worked on an open-source web application that has the ability to track the space station and provides interactive 3D visualizations of the earth ,the space station orbit and the station itself
