ISS and our universe

High-Level Project Summary

We have developed a 3D space tool to facilitate access to information about satellites, astronauts, planets and asteroids in an interactive and dynamic environment, with the possibility of using virtual reality for greater immersion. We obtain the data to position the ISS and place it in its position with respect to the planet Earth and simulate its movement and direction. In addition, we want to add information about the astronauts on the ISS.The goal is to change the paradigm with which people have been learning about space until today and to motivate people to expand their knowledge about space more easily and in an interactive way.

Detailed Project Description

We come from a not very interactive and boring model in which we learn with texts and images in books, home-made models to simulate a solar system, etc. This abstracts us from the reality, the real sizes, the distance, its materials, textures and colours, etc.

The goal is to change the paradigm with which people have been learning about space until today and to motivate people to expand their knowledge about space more easily and in an interactive way.

The application has a system of achievements that you unlock by finding planets, stars and/or asteroids. Once unlocked, you will be able to see additional information about them (temperature, gravity, materials, etc).

Also, by displaying details of the ISS, we will show which astronauts are on board, how long they have been there, etc.

Hackathon Journey

We were inspired by our colleagues to represent our company in this challenge as an interesting way of lear and develop team building.

As a team of 6, our experience during the hackathon in Alicante was amazing. This weeking we've overcomed huge challenges and we had to learn a lot of useful skills such as knowing what to prioritize, how to stay calm even under high amounts of pressure and more importantly how to find solutions as a whole team.
