Team Cateiron has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!
Our Project, Cepheid Variables by Cateiron is a highly entertaining learning tool dedicated to increasing spatial awareness and disseminating information about Cepheid Variables. Our website completes the challenge by teaching anyone regardless of their backgrounds about stellar variability and helping them understand how dynamic the night sky really is with provided quizzes, games, fun facts, and detailed articles. Additionally, the website allows users to see all kinds of changes on the star “RT Aurigae” with the help of a timelapse. To support the visualization of the star, there are also various facts and an educational article covering every aspect of the RT Aurigae star.
Our project at its core is a website dedicated to informing people from all around the world about Cepheid Variables in an entertaining way. The website doesn’t require you to sign in and doesn’t charge you for using any of the tools because we believe that anyone has the right to be eligible for the materials we use on our website. The website greets you with a homepage from which you can access various tools including educational quizzes, comprehensive articles supported by elaborate graphs, fun facts, various slides, and a visualization tool including photos of the RT Aurigae star captured at several critical times. The website is highly interactive and thus it allows for a more efficient learning experience. In the process of building this website, we used miscellaneous tools and coding languages. The tools we used include Wordpress, SmartSlider, Canva, Visual Studio Code, and ARI Quiz Maker. The coding languages we used include HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Combining the mentioned tools with the support of the coding languages when necessary helped create a more interactive and convenient website. The tools helped us save time by providing templates and they also kept our materials more compact, this way we could work in a more organized way. The coding languages we used helped optimize our materials and services according to our specific goals and also make our website more interactive. With the help of our well-organized plan and the NASA Resources provided on the challenge website, we were able to meet all the criteria of the challenge “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” while also taking into account the possible considerations.
The space agency data we used was from several different resources. These resources include the website provided by Nasa that introduces Cepheid Variables and provides general information about their behaviors. This website helped us construct a page dedicated to the typical characteristics of Cepheid Variables. This was helpful in terms of putting the other pages into perspective and providing some background information to deliver the users a more useful and satisfactory experience. Another advantage this resource has brought was that we gained better insight on how these stars behave which helped us in our further research. This way, we had a certain amount of knowledge before we dug deep into more specific resources. The second space agency data we used was GCVS - General Catalog of Variable Stars. This resource included the details about how variable stars are named which helped us in our further research since it familiarized us with the jargon.
As a team who has been competing in NASA Space Apps for three years in a row, our team really appreciates the experience and the improvement Space Apps helps us to get. While improving our skills such as coding, designing, and sharing, Space Apps helps us to get familiar with completely new fields and learn how to work in them professionally. Additionally, with the provided convenient resources, our team discovered how important it is to understand and process the data. Besides this, our challenge Twinkle Twinkle Little Star showed us the phenomenal night sky and the beyond-belief change in the stars. The charming characteristics of Cepheid Stars deeply thrilled us! Our main approach while developing this project was to design a website that offers an enjoyable and educational experience to everyone. The biggest challenge for our team was the limited time, in order to accomplish all of our ideas not only we needed more time but also had to study in a completely unfamiliar field, it seemed impossible to achieve all this, however with the right arrangements and strategies, we managed to succeed most of the considerations that were given on the NASA Space Apps website. Lastly, our team would like to thank NASA, all the collaborators, GO Team, the local team, other teams and competitors, all science enthusiasts and those who contributed to this excellent hackathon! Our team sincerely appreciates all the efforts for this terrific experience!

The stars above are constantly changing, but usually these changes are too slow or too faint for the eye to see. Your challenge is to develop a learning tool to teach people about stellar variability and help them understand how dynamic the night sky really is!
