High-Level Project Summary

Ambience alteration refers to the various changes in our climate.I have followed three major steps to arrive at the solution:•Causes of the climatic change -First, we need to figure out the reasons behind the changes in our climate. We have to understand why these changes take place.•Consequences -Secondly, we should understand the consequences, i.e., what happens as a result of these changes. That will help us to figure out the severity of the changes.•Preventive measures - Lastly, we must contribute in saving our plants and reducing these changes to the greatest extent from our side.My video will aware others about these aspects. We can save our planet only when we get to know better.

Detailed Project Description

Greetings to the respected judges!

Team Ambience Alteration is working on the problem statement - ' How Does Climate Change Affect You? '. I have found out that we can save our planet from climatic change only when we are well aware. So, my solution is that I have make a factual, informative and pictorial based video, that spreads awareness in three major steps :-

1. Causes of the changes

-> Deforestation

It is the main cause. It refers to felling of trees at massive scale. It can technically be defined as clearing off or

destroying the lungs through which the earth breathes.

-> Industrialization

This is another major issue which is day-by-day increase in number of industries all over leading to land, air and water pollution.

Our earth receives sun rays, which pass through the atmospheric layers. Some of these rays are reflected back into the space, some of it is absorbed, while the rest get trapped in the atmosphere, maintaining the average temperature of the earth (13.9 degree Celsius). This phenomenon is called as Greenhouse Effect. Five major gases are responsible for this effect - Nitrous oxide, Methane, Chlorofluorocarbon, Carbon dioxide and Water Vapour. They are called as Greenhouse gases. They are essential but excess of them(mainly, because of above mentioned causes) rise the temperature of the earth. It leads to Global Warming.

2. Consequences

As a result, we face the following major problems :-

- Unpredictable phenomena

Due to uneven heating of the earth, low and high-pressure systems develop and cause depressions[cyclones/hurricanes/typhoons and thunderstorms] at unexpected times.

- Loss of Biodiversity

The animals aren't able to survive such drastic changes and are slowly endangered (verge of extinction).

- Rise in sea level

Due to the melting of glacier and ice sheets, the water level in seas and oceans increase and submerge mass of land and damage coastlines.

- Rise in temperature

High temperature cause health hazards and deaths sue to heat stroke and heat cramps.

3. Prevention

We must take proper preventive measures to extend the helping hand from our end to the greatest extent. Here are a few of them :-

* Save energy

* Be eco-friendly

* Afforestation

* Reduce vehicles

* 3Rs - Reuse, Reduce and Recycle

I have used the data from National Aeronautics and Space Administration [NASA]. The information received from website of NASA helped me to get a detailed understanding of the topic and has helped me to develop the video.

Hackathon Journey

Experience

My hackathon journey was amazing.

Learning

I got to learn a lot of new things about my surroundings and planet earth. As I had to work out a video, I went through several books and collected information from various websites on the internet. It was a completely new experience. I learned to use various software applications for a sing project.

Inspiration

Once, I had read about a place where people had to walk for miles for a drop of water, still without the assurance of accessing it. The other day, I read that -"As little as 6,000 years ago, the vast Sahara Desert was covered in grassland that received plenty of rainfall, but shifts in the world's weather patterns abruptly transformed the vegetated region into some of the driest land on Earth." I knew that we couldn't do anything with the natural changes, so, we have to change ourselves as much as possible. So, I created the video to covey my message - We still have time and we can change it.

My approach to this project included the following steps

Develop : A rough sketch of my plan
Create : PowerPoint Presentation with main points
Make : Video [solution]
Insert : Pictures, models , text, and sounds
Submit : Finally publish it

Challenge

I, being a seventh grader, have gone through the complete journey myself , the sole participant. I had to find out about how can I use my skills and make it into something interesting.

I will try to do better in future.
