Detailed Project Description
Our application is an adequate tool for mapping and listing threatened and protected species. Based on local realities, these species are both animal (sea turtles, gorillas and elephants, etc.) and plants (mangroves). Pollution of the oceans by chemicals and plastics can bog turtles down, poison them, suffocate them or cause disease. Their habitat is also impacted, jeopardizing vital areas for their biological cycle. With input from NASA's Earth System Observatory, Remote Sensing, Biodiversity Data Guidance Tool, our app will be able to provide the pieces of the puzzle to catalog and map areas that are teeming with endangered species. and protected, in order to reduce the risk of their extinction. But the human species is not to be ruled out because some indigenous peoples bear the brunt of uncontrolled deforestation, drought and aridity, thus depriving them of food and housing. This is the case of the people commonly called pygmies in the Congo, living in wooden and straw huts and therefore suddenly experiencing the repercussions of deforestation and forest fires. CLEANET will be used to collect and map, delimit by GPS the areas with intense deforestation, in order to signal to the Ministry of Water and Forests. Proceed with the identification of the main environmental characteristics, then the known habitats in which the species are present in order to estimate the potential habitats in the places where data on the presence of the species are lacking.

This experience was enriching for us both intellectually and humanly because it helped us to very quickly develop a sense of teamwork, cohesion in the work in a limited time of one day. We have gone beyond raising awareness by trying to propose solutions as well as rallying people to this vital cause. Thanks to our cohesion and our symbiosis, we were able to overcome the obstacles to carry out our project.
