High-Level Project Summary
The world's climate depends on many factors such as: the degree of energy coming from the sun, the number of greenhouse gases or the properties of the Earth's surface. As of now, Global warming is a certainty. This can be marked by the spread of natural disasters in Morocco as of late, specifically destructive wildfires. This project contains all the points needed to comprehend the causes and effects of wildfires; using an educational short video as a phenomenon that we have witnessed increasingly the past 2 years. We used story telling to display how it impacts us as a generation living through the climate change crisis and provided examples of measures to combat it.

Detailed Project Description
Purpose of The Project
This Project is meant to educate people on what has been happening in Morocco; it details the increased wildfire activities that have been witnessed especially this part year, as well as how it impacted people directly or indirectly.
By educating people on the subjects of wildfires, we are also able to bring a certain level of awareness to the public so that they can empathize with the victims that were directly suffering from the aftermath of a wildfire, how these wildfires may directly or indirectly impact the audience, and finally what steps are being taken to prevent and decrease the problems we are already facing from this phenomenon.
We hope to spread the word among the public about how dangerous climate change issues, as well as prevent any more irreversible damage from happening on an international level and a national level so that we are capable to preserve a better Earth for succeeding generations.
Tools and technologies
We were able to build this short 2:25 minute video by using Adobe Premiere Pro, open source videos from the internet , a camera and a microphone.
Space Agency Data
We collected Data from the resources provided to us on the website which we will list down below :
- NASA Worldview website to visulize wildfire appearances in Morocco during the summer of 2022.
- The EARTHDATA NASA website where we looked at the characteristics and impact of wildfires on different countries around the world
Hackathon Journey
This journey we undertook these 48 hours has been as stressful as it was amazing. We were able to learn how to operate efficiently under stress by discovering practical and resourceful ways to utilize the information conveyed to us. Not to mention, we were given the rare opportunity to communicate with numerous teams, made friends and attempt something unusual.
We chose this challenge because we were able to connect to each other through it as a group that consisted of various people from diverse cities and academic backgrounds. We divided the project into a set of tasks to maximize the use of our limited time.
We faced problems with coming up with a single thing to focus on at first because climate change is such a broad task with many different sub-subjects that are all important and interconnected to one another. Finally, we were able to solve this problem by listing all the things we wanted to talk about and choose the most relevant subject to us Moroccan citizens today.
We would like to sincerely thank US embassy and the organizer of the NASA SPACE APPS CHALLENGE in Oujda; as well as all the motivated people who were qualified to put together this lovely event and made it accessible for the people living out of Oujda.
