Egypt's Coastal Cities Affected by Climate Change

High-Level Project Summary

In our video we tried to underline the main causes of climate change and how it affects our planet. We focused on one of the aspects of the climate change, which is global warming and how this endangers the coastal cities around the world and especially the cities on the northern coast of Egypt. The rise of the Mediterranean Sea due to the melting of the ice of the two poles is threatening to drown vast inhabited areas of the northern coast, including 5 governorates: Port Said, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Beheira and Dakahlia, especially if the water level rose to more than 100cm.

Detailed Project Description

Our projects underlines the main problems caused by the climate change globally and then, in details, the influence that climate change has over the global warming, which directly affects Egypt and its coastal cities. We presented our ideas in a short video, providing the viewers with some really interesting facts, photos and maps.

Space Agency Data

The team used some data from the researches made by NASA in rainfall rates, climate change's causes and effects on different parts of the globe.

Hackathon Journey

Working on our project was a a very useful experience! Each of us was in charge of certain tasks and than each one presented to the other the results of his work and then we put everything together! First we chose the idea, then we collected the data and wrote the presentation, we searched for suitable photos and even made a map of Egypt's governorates by ourselves. We chose this idea because it is something that really concerns us and may influence our lives in the near future.
