Our project depicts the current issues that have resulted from climate change. In the form of a informational monologue, our 3 minute long video describes how climate change is affecting the United States specifically. This was particularly important to our group, as we have encountered numerous effects of wildfires living in Northern California, and have experienced the harmful air quality. A close friend of ours was severely impacted by the recent Hurricane Ian, which led to a lack of power source, food, and means of communication. This "solves" the challenge as it simplifies the underlying concepts behind the causes and effects of climate change.
We used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit a 3 minute video about our challenge given, How Does Climate Change Affect You? In this video, we briefly explained the causes, effects, and consequences of climate change. We also talked about our personal experience with these consequences in our lives. The benefits it has is that it is not too long, has a catchy intro/hook that would entice audiences, and provides some factual records, along with some personal experiences. We hope to achieve or raise more awareness regarding this significant issue of climate change. We hope that we can come unite as one, to help combat this problem head on so that it won't get too detrimental in the next generation.
Mainly, we were able to use the NASA Open Data Portal to gather facts about greenhouse gas emissions and impacts on world food supply. We were also able to use the data from IPCC and AR6 to gather facts and statistics on the number of people that have been affected, as well as the percentages of increase in deprivation of essential resources such as electricity. Since a close friend of ours was severely affected by Hurricane Ian’s sudden blockage to power sources, we were inspired to explore the ins and outs of the causes.
Our team decided to pick this challenge about climate change because we recently discovered that one of our close friends, had her house burnt down due to the Mosquito Fire. We would like to dig deeper into the causes of climate change and research different solutions. During the process, we’ve learned the various causes and effects of climate change. We also had a chance to interview our close friend Arko, who now lives in Florida, who experienced the destructive impacts of Hurricane Ian up close.
