What is climate change and how does it affect us?

High-Level Project Summary

We present a new format for presenting information about the impact of climate change. Our goal is to convey to everyone in simple words what climate change is, to explain how much it affects our lives. Why is climate change important? Because the life and health of every human, animal and plant depends on it. It is necessary to popularize the topic of how dangerous climate change is.

Detailed Project Description

Our project is designed to reveal the topic of climate change and its harm in simple words. Using simple examples, we show what problems climate change leads to.

First example: Changing weather patterns including prolonged dry spells, water shortage, hailstorms and changes in seasons have a strong impact on coffee production.

Second example: Warming oceans caused by climate change are putting coral reefs in danger.  The algae cannot carry out photosynthesis in water that is too warm. It's bad for the algae, the coral and the fish, because the coral lose their food sources and become weak and can die.

Third example: Polar bears are suffering from climate change. Since 1958, Arctic ice cover has lost 2/3. Polar bears rely on sea ice as a platform for mating, rearing young and for hunting seals. As Arctic ice shrinks, their habitat disappears.

Climate change affects both: our everyday things and what we like, which is why it matters.

Hackathon Journey

Our team consists of active and smart students, so as soon as we learned about this event, we immediately decided to participate. Looking for information on the topic, we deepened our knowledge in ecology. We chose this topic because we consider it very important today. While doing the project, we answered the question: how has climate change changed our lives? Initially, it seemed that there were not many answers to the question, but after researching more information, the number of answers increased. We are grateful to everyone who helped us with the project!
