Detailed Project Description
Project Name: Space School for Children, Adolescents and Youth.
Project Design Level: Profile
Detected Need or Problem/Project Justification:
Unlike other times, we have a great amount of information available through networks on various topics of interest, something that does not escape questions about Space.
It is observed that in the case of young children, access to information about Space, in a clear and understandable way according to age, can be found in several websites and applications, however, it is available in an isolated way, making necessary an integrating knowledge environment.
For those children, teenagers and young people who are especially interested in learning about Space from an early age, it is of great importance to have a reliable mechanism for dissemination, teaching and training that allows to start a systematized and integrating "space career", considering the own evolution of each person interested in this process.
This Project is aimed at children, adolescents and young people of school age (primary and secondary). It is complementary to compulsory formal education.
General Objective:
To generate opportunities for development, access to knowledge and inclusion of children, adolescents and young people.
Specific Objective:
Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and systematized and integrated training on Space for children and young people interested in starting a "Space Career."
Product: The product of the Project is the creation of a Space School for primary and secondary school children, through an App for training in virtual modality.
Target audience: children and young people in primary and secondary school.
Components:
- Design of the App.
- Design of the Space School Curriculum (training program).
- Design of the content of the "Recreation" section. This area is intended for students, but also open to the general public. It includes online games, a newspaper with real content and data for the dissemination of information about Space, augmented reality, virtual models, among others.
- Design of the Institutional Structure (who carries out the project).
Time horizon:
36 years. Foreseen for the purpose of calculating the costs and benefits to be carried out in the Project's feasibility stage. However, since it is an Educational Project, it is expected to evolve and continue over time.
Investment, execution and maintenance costs of the project: to be estimated at the Feasibility stage.
Origin of funds: coming from the executing agencies.
Direct beneficiaries:
Since this is a social project, and since the education is expected to be free for users, the benefits of the project will be measured by some cost-efficiency indicator, such as the number of children trained per year, the number of Space School graduates who continue with related careers at the University, or the number of projects generated by the students that are implemented.
This is a global Project with a local scope.
Indirect beneficiaries:
The impact of the project will have spillovers in society due to the increase in the levels of training and specialization to which it contributes in the population.
Executing Agency: NASA in coordination with other Space Agencies, Ministries of Education, Science and Technology, Universities of different countries.
Viability of the project:
At this profile stage, no aspects that could negatively affect the Project are observed. Therefore, the Economic and Social, Political and Institutional, Technical and Environmental Viability are assured.
It is suggested to move to a Project Feasibility level.
Project Group:
Amelie Maldonado (8 years).
Leopoldo Maldonado (7 years).
Florencia Juarez. Mom. Economist.
Place and Date: La Plata City, Argentina. October 2, 2022.
Space Agency Data
For this project designed at the profile level, information provided by the NASA website was considered, which will also serve as the main input in the case of advancing in its Feasibility Design.

Hackathon Journey
When we learned with my 7 and 8-year-old children that together we could participate in this Space APPs 2022, the news filled us with pride and joy, given that, as we suggested in our project, we understand that children have a great demand for learning and to live certain experiences that are sometimes limited only to adults.
We thank the organizing teams of this Space APPs 2022, both internationally and locally.
