Exploring Venus Together

High-Level Project Summary

Our group develop a 3D model that can help the scientists to store energy and also a energy storage system that will power a surface lander or rover on the surface of Venus. It is important because the scientists can do survey whether humans can live in Venus in future.

Detailed Project Description

First of all, the solar panels absorb the light energy and convert into electrical energy then distribute the electrical energy to the green house. The green house is used to maintain the room temperature to ensure the survival of the plant. The plants help to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen to balance the percentage of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air.

Besides, the wind turbine is suitable to be used due to the strong in Venus . The strong wind enable the fan blade to turn faster and the kinetic energy is produced at the same time. The kinetic energy will convert into electrical energy in order to transmit to the fly wheel energy storage. Thus, the fly wheel energy storage can accumulate the electrical energy.

Space Agency Data

This design is using wind turbine and solar panel to generate electrical energy. The energy will be sent to the green house or the fly wheel energy storage respectively. For aerogel, we started by searching the best compact heat insulator and saw the aerogel is used by Nasa themselves. Out of curiosity, we have surfed Internet and found lots of interesting facts about it such as solid and rigid. Therefore, we chose aerogel as our material for building the station.

Hackathon Journey

Through this NASA competition, I've learnt that teamwork is important! Thanks to my group members, we are able to finish our 3D modal by our own. We divided the jobs and I always help my members to solve their problems whenever they are facing difficulties. We works as the glue holding the team together and should be responsible for setting the pace, offers encouragement and motivation, and keeps all members of the team updated. All of us are having mutual respect, common and aligned goals, open communication, and patience in order to make a successful team. I am really happy that we have made it!
